Mr. Rashed Al-Swaisat was born in the city of Amman on the 18th of May in 2002. He began boxing at the age of 13 in 2015 in Jordan’s Boxing School and after two years of experiences, he had the chance to represent the proud nation in the international stage. The southpaw boxer received the right to attend at the Puerto Princesa 2017 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships where he was competitive rival for India’s strong Vinit in the quarter-finals.
His next major international event was the Arab Youth Boxing Championships in 2019 which took place in Cairo, Egypt and he lost to only Morocco’s promising Yassine Elouarz in the quarter-finals of welterweight (69kg). Since then the Moroccan boxer is member of the elite national team and he is aiming for a place in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Rashed moved up to the light heavyweight (81kg) and he was involved to the national team of Jordan which attended in the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Kielce. He had a newcomer opponent in the first preliminary round in Poland, Estonia’s Anton Vinogradov who knocked him out in the third round of the contest. The knockout did not look serious after the punch and Rashed tried to stand up after that but he needed treatment in the hospital following the preliminary bout.
He had a wonderful, smiley and open-minded personality and passing away in Poland before his 19th birthday which event is still unbelievable for all of us. We will all remain him in our best memory and never forget his positive attitude to boxing and to the whole life. May his soul will rest in eternal peace in his homeland in Jordan.
