ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to Mr. Genebert Basadre’s family

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation and Vice-President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Mr. Anas Alotaiba, furthermore and the whole ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to Philippines’ Genebert Basadre’s family following the former boxer passing away at the age of 37.  

Philippines’ Mr. Genebert Basadre was born on 5th January in 1984 and joined to the national team in 2002 when he attended his first international event at the Acropolis Cup in Greece. He claimed bronze medal during his debut and competed several other international tournaments during his later career.

Basadre attended in the Olympic Boxing Qualifying Events in 2004 and he reached his first big highlight in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games which he won. He defeated strong opponents from Pakistan and Turkmenistan at the Doha 2006 Asian Games before losing his semi-final to China’s Hu Qing but the bronze medal was his next highlight.

Basadre attended in the Chicago 2007 and in the Milan 2009 editions of the AIBA World Boxing Championships, at the AIBA President’s Cup, and also in the Asian Boxing Championships. He finished his active boxing career in 2010 and after that worked as coach to build up the next generation’s boxers.

May his soul will rest in eternal peace in his homeland in the Philippines.
