ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to Kazakhstan’s Mr. Beket Makhmutov’s family
The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation and Vice-President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Mr. Anas Alotaiba, furthermore and the whole ASBC management are sending their sincere condolences to Mr. Beket Makhmutov’s family and the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation following the official passed away at the age of 82.
Mr. Beket Sapabekovich Makhmutov was the Master of Sports in boxing at the Soviet Union, an honoured trainer and a well-known official who had the enthusiasm for the combat sports. Following his hard work as a coach, the independent Kazakhstan’s boxing grew up rapidly and during his era such stars as Vasiliy Zhirov, Bekzat Sattarkhanov, Yermakhan Ibraimov and Bakhtiyar Artayev won Olympic titles for the Central Asian boxing power.
Mr. Beket Makhmutov as an official was the President of the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation between 1993 and 2000. As one of the previous President of the Asian Boxing Bureau, he served the International Boxing Association (AIBA) as Vice-President and Chairman of its Financial Committee between 1996 and 2006.
He supported the development of Kazakhstan’s judo as President of the Federation and also President of the Asian Judo Union. Mr. Beket Makhmutov was the Vice-President of the Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee in the last years of his active life.
One of the international events was named after him, the Beket Makhmutov Prizes Youth Tournament is a tough competition in the city of Uralsk in Kazakhstan where the last edition was held in 2017.
