ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the ASBC management congratulate to the re-elected President of Boxing Federation of India Mr. Ajay Singh
The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Anas Alotaiba, furthermore and the whole ASBC management congratulate to the re-elected President of the Boxing Federation of India, Mr. Ajay Singh. The Asian Boxing Confederation believes that the Board members of the Boxing Federation of India will be delivering great progresses and future developments in the next four years until 2024.
The President of the Boxing Federation of India Mr. Ajay Singh developed his country’s boxing life well enough in the recent years and he won the elections over former Mumbai Cricket Association President Mr. Ashish Shelar in the re-scheduled elections. Mr. Ajay Singh got 37 while his opponent 27 votes in the challenge which means he can continue his job as President until 2024.
The BFI had a Special General Meeting via online in New Delhi still in September 2020 which decided a few important management and electoral questions to change the dates of the elections which finally moved to February. Mr. Ajay Singh will be supported by the new Secretary General Mr. Hemanta Kumar Kalita.
India hosted the 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in Guwahati and the 2018 AIBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships in New Delhi and the country is planning to arrange more international events. India had a successful event in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualifying Boxing Event in Amman where nine of their boxers including four girls have qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Indian elite male national boxing team trains in a new location in Bellary which is a major city in the state of Karnataka. Altogether 43 elite men boxers have been invited to the new national training camp to prepare well to the next international events. All of the best Indian boxers are in the training camp in Bellary including their five Olympic quota holders.
The preparations will be held until the 15th of February to reach the top shape of the boxers in Bellary which is 500m above the sea level. The management of the Boxing Federation of India is planning to send their teams to the upcoming Strandja Memorial Tournament, Boxam Tournament, and to the Bosphorus International Boxing Tournament to arrange a new European tour before the World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.
