ASBC medallists Sadillakhudjayev and Istamov were the stars at the Uzbekistan Junior National Cup
The Uzbekistan Junior National Cup was held in the city of Gulistan where their Asian Junior Champion Saidkhudja Sadillakhudjayev and ASBC Asian Schoolboys silver medallist, Mukhammadali Istamov both were brilliant once again.
The 2009 and the 2010 born boxers were eligible to participate in the Uzbekistan Junior National Cup in Gulistan. The number of the junior male boxers was 327 in this national event which supported the decision makers to select the best athletes for the year of 2025.
Fifteen junior male weight categories were in actions in the national event, including the 42kg and 44kg divisions. The Uzbeks amazed in the recent ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships in Al Ain, in the United Arab Emirates which was the main international event for them in 2024.
Sirdarya region’s Khasan Abdugafforov was not the main favourite for the title of the 42kg weight class but he defeated all of his five opponents unanimously including Shakhboz Khusanov of Samarkand in the final.
Javlonbek Makhammadisakov achieved a bronze medal in the recent ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships and the 14-year-old boxer moved up from the 40kg weight class up to the 44kg but he managed to take his next national title.
The ASBC Asian Schoolboys silver medallist top boxer, Bukhara’s Mukhammadali Istamov moved up from the 44kg division to the pinweight (46kg) in the previous two months but his brilliant technical skills guaranteed his success against Abbos Usmanov in the final.
Tashkent’s Khabibulla Saynazarov had a tough semi-final against Bekhruz Mamurjonov but he managed to beat his opponent and Abdulbasit Yursunboyev in the final of the light flyweight (48kg) as well.
Bekzod Ismoiljonov of Namangan was the favourite for the title at the flyweight (50kg) but he was defeated by Tashkent region’s Dinislam Davlatiyarov in the final. Asadbek Yesonboyev (52kg) and Bobomurod Boymirzayev (54kg) both won their weight classes by dominance.
Ibrokhim Shokirjonov, the ASBC Asian Junior silver medallist, was the main favourite for the gold at the featherweight (57kg) but he lost to the eventual winner Asilbek Abdukadirov from the Tashkent region already in the semi-finals.
Saidkhudja Sadillakhudjayev achieved the gold medal at the lightweight (60kg) in the annual ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The 15-year-old moved up to the light welterweight (63kg) and as expected he dominated his final against Kamronbek Khamdamov.
Bukhara’s next ace, Diyorbek Murodillayev, the ASBC Asian Junior silver medallist, was too strong for Andizhan’s Khasanboy Azamjonov at the light heavyweight (70kg). Andizhan’s Khurshidbek Jurayev (75kg), Tashkent region’s Asadbek Sultanboyev (80kg) and Artur Kenesbayev (+80kg) were the winners of the heaviest weight categories.
