Kazakhstan’s Batyrkhan Seitenov was one of the ASBC Heroes with his gold medal and tough performance in Kuwait City in 2019.
Batyrkhan Seitenov was born in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan on February 13 in 2005 and as many of his teammates he started boxing under the age of 10. His boxing style is orthodox and based on dominancy which he has done superbly in the recent two years due to his more than 100 bouts.
Akmola region’s Batyrkhan Seitenov won the gold medal at the 58kg weight class in the 2018 Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships at the age of 13 spending his first year among the schoolboys. The 2019 edition of the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Boxing Championships was held in Atbasar which is a small town in the Akmola region of the Northern Kazakhstan.
He claimed his second title in Atbasar where he was too strong for Isamedin Khozhamzhar and Mangystau region’s Azamat Nigmetov in the final stages of the 66kg weight class. Batyrkhan Seitenov was the lone boxer who could defend his throne in the 2019 Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships and following that success, he received the chance to compete at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships.
Seitenov began his campaign against Syria’s Younes Haidar in Kuwait City and won their quick quarter-final contest by RSC following his lethal combinations. Kazakhstan’s Batyrkhan Seitenov eliminated one of his main rivals India’s Beniwal Naksh in the semi-final of the 67kg weight class in Kuwait City which was a top fight in the fourth competition day.
The two-time Kazakh Schoolboys National Champion was highly confident following his semi-final contest and caught Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Khamidullayev quickly in the first round of the final with tough punches. Seitenov felt the support of his teammates and controlled the second round but delivered his very best in the third against the exhausted Uzbek. The final verdict was unanimous decision in the favour of Seitenov who claimed Kazakhstan’s first title in Kuwait City.
