ASBC Heroes – Kazakhstan’s 15-year-old heavyweight talent Yerdos Sharipbek

Kazakhstan’s second gold medal at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships was achieved by Yerdos Sharipbek who dominated all of his three contests at the +70kg weight class. Kazakhstan’s Yerdos Sharipbek was one of the ASBC Heroes with his gold medal in Kuwait City in 2019 and he showed also excellent future potential.

Yerdos Sharipbek was born in the Dzhambul region of the country on May 25 in 2005 and as many of his teammates he was involved to the boxing programs at the age of 10. Sharipbek trains in that South Kazakhstan region where the number of boxers and coaches are significantly increased in the recent years.

Sharipbek attended in the 2019 edition of the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Boxing Championships following his regional success and qualification to the national level. The event was held in Atbasar which is a small town in the Akmola region of the Northern Kazakhstan. Batyrkhan Seitenov was the top star of the event but Yerdos Sharipbek won the last title of the Schoolboys National Championships after beating Kanat Tlekkabylov in the final of the +70kg weight class.

Sharipbek demonstrated his power in the quarter-finals of the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships. The 14-year-old Kazakh landed same strong punches as many of the elite boxers when he met with Jordan’s Razi Ahmad Alhyasat therefore the referee stopped their contest in the second round to avoid any injuries.

Kazakhstan’s new Schoolboys National Champion Yerdos Sharipbek continued his glorious pathway in Kuwait City in the next stage. He knocked out Turkmenistan’s 194cm tall Bogdan Konstantinov in the semi-final of the ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships advancing to the final of the competition.

His final Indian opponent, Randeep surprisingly eliminated Uzbekistan’s favourite Khusanboy Rikhsiboyev in the last four but following the Kazakh boxer’s KO success, he was not enough brave in the final. Sharipbek dominated their final, landed clear punches, and controlled all of the three rounds against the Indian taking Kazakhstan’s second gold medal in Kuwait City after Batyrkhan Seitenov.
