ASBC Future Stars – Iran’s 12-year-old Sahand Najafi from Makou city

Iran has got high number of young talents due to their grassroots program, Sahand Najafi is their next talent who amazed all of the national experts and coaches. The Asian Boxing Confederation’s new PR campaign, the ASBC Future stars have been introducing the continent’s best hopes and young talents focusing to the new wave of the boxers.

Iran’s new talent Sahand Najafi was born in 2008, he is 12-year-old but he has got more than two and half year of experiences in boxing. The young talent trains every day and he enjoys our beloved combat sport which is part of his life. He is ready to compete among the schoolboys in the upcoming months and focuses to big targets.

The 12-year-old Sahand Najafi trains in the city of Makou in West Azerbaijan Province which is located in a mountain gorge near to the Turkish border. His weight is 42kg after the intensive training sessions which means Sahand Najafi can box in the official 43kg schoolboy category in the near future.

Sahand Najafi’s coach is his brother Mr. Sina Najafi in Makou who feels his much younger relative could be shining in the upcoming national events. Their relationship is very special and both invested excellent attitude and workload to build up a bright future with everyday training sessions.

Following 8-year-old Ali Khodadadi, 9-year-old Mohammadreza Yarahmadi, Arsia Barzkar, Shayan Boorang, Shahriyar Boorang, and Mohammad Barati, Sahand Najafi is their next young talent under the schoolboy level. All of these young Iranian talents can join to the kid and schoolboy competitions in a few years and they could be champions in the near future.

The Iranian Boxing Federation launched an important grassroots project, school programs and promotion of boxing through the country. The target of the Iranian campaign is to find as many sub-schoolboy talents as possible in all regions of the country to involve them to the national teams in the future. Their schoolboy national events set up new entry records in the recent years which is the first element of their developments but Iran’s management is also focusing to the young talents who are under 10 years-old. The President of the Iranian Boxing Federation, energetic Mr. Hossein Souri is a very active official and he believes that the country will be able to get Olympic medals in the future already in the Paris 2024 edition. His mission is to double the number of the total number of boxers in Iran and raise the popularity of boxing into the top sports of the country.
