ASBC Asian Schoolboys Championships bronze medallist Ruslan Gafurov was confident in the semi-finals of the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships

Thirty exciting semi-final contests have been held at the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships in Dushanbe. ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships bronze medallist Ruslan Gafurov moved up from the 37kg up to the 46kg weight class within one year but proved his amazing talent in the semi-finals of the national event.

Boxers at the 29kg, 33kg, 35kg, 37kg, 40kg, 43kg, 46kg, 49kg, 52kg, 55kg, 58kg, 61kg, 64kg, 67kg and +67kg weight classes were in action in the semi-finals of the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships today. The thirty winners advanced to the finals of the national competition and remained their chance alive to win the event.

Boxers who were born in 2006 and in 2007 are eligible to attend in the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships from all regions of the country. Tajikistan’s experienced official Mr. Akmal Abdullaev, who worked as Referee & Judge in several ASBC Championships in 2019, is the Supervisor of the Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships.

As expected, the favourites, Rakhim Naimov of Khatlon region and Saidekhson Gulomov advanced to the first finals of the event at the 29kg weight class. Sughd region’s Mekhrodj Sufijonov claimed silver medal in the 2019 Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships and he can still win his 33kg weight category following his easy success over Bakhridin Jaloliddin. Sufijonov will be boxing for the gold medal with Dushanbe’s Amirjon Davlatov who outpointed Anis Khabibulloev of Khatlon.  

Dushanbe’s Abdullojon Mamatkulov and Sughd region’s Jovid Yunusov are the finalists of the 35kg weight class following their impressive successes in the semi-finals. Dushanbe’s 14-year-old Biloljon Iskanov earned silver medal in the 2019 Tajikistan Schoolboys National Championships and he is planning to get the gold this time.

Dushanbe’s Anushervon Fozilov proved that he is the main favourite for the gold medal at the 40kg weight class after beating Jasur Sharipov in the semi-finals. Davron Abubakri of Dushanbe eliminated Saifullo Inoyatov in the semi-finals of the 43kg weight class and will be facing for the gold with Damir Muybalikhonov of Badakhshan.

Ruslan Gafurov was only 13 when he claimed bronze medal for Tajikistan at the Kuwait 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships. Dushanbe’s pride attended at the 37kg category in Kuwait City and after one year of developments he is now the top favourite at the 46kg weight class. Gafurov eliminated Khatlon’s Saymukhammad Safoyev and will be meeting for the title with Bokhtar’s Saybilol Sadikov.

Dushanbe’s Mukhammad Minigbayev and his fellow Nekruz Mirzoyev will be boxing for the title of the 49kg weight category. Khatlon’s Abdullo Karimov had a narrow success over Bokhtar’s Azizjon Sultonov in the semi-finals of the 52kg and will be facing for the gold medal with Jovid Ilmurodov of Dushanbe. Khatlon’s last year’s silver medallist Khisrav Zabirov was too strong for Dushanbe’s Abdullo Salimov in the semi-finals of the 55kg weight class where Islom Shokirov also dominated his bout on Day3. Khatlon region’s next strong talent Anvari Abdulojoni spent short time in the ring against Shokhjakhon Abdurakhmonov but his final opponent at the 58kg, Sukhrob Rustamzoda of Sughd region could be more difficult.
