China’s Asian Games winner Wu Yu used his double defence in the first round against Kazakhstan’s two-time World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay and she tried to catch her opponent with quick shots. Wu jumped into the best fighting distance and she followed the instructions of her Cuban coach well enough to take the control in this semi-final therefore the Chinese will be able to meet Turkey’s Busenaz Cakiroglu for the title of the women’s light flyweight (50kg).
China’s World Champion Yang Liu met several times with Chinese Taipei’s star Chen Nien Chin in the recent three years and she had always hard battles against the strong puncher. Chen controlled the first round with quick actions, she surprised Yang with her style and Chinese Taipei’s No.1 took the lead on the scorecards. Chen boxed much better in this contest than any of their previous matches but finally Yang’s hand was raised due to her effective counter-shots.
China’s Yang Wenlu advanced to the final of the women’s lightweight (60kg) and she worked hard from the first seconds against the defending champion, Kellie Harrington of Ireland but she was not able to take the title in Paris.
