Almost clean sweep for Kazakhstan at the Dildabekov Youth Tournament

Host Kazakhstan made almost a clean sweep in the new edition of the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament which was held Turkestan, a UNESCO World Heritage town.

The number of the participating boxers was 116 and the 2006 and the 2007 born boxers were eligible to compete in the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament.

Mr. Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov was a famous Kazakh super heavyweight boxer in the end of the 1990s and beginning of the 2000s. He earned a silver at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, a gold at the Bangkok 1998 Asian Games, a silver at the Houston 1999 World Boxing Championships.

Zhetysu region’s Dias Berikbay impressed in the entire tournament at the minimumweight (48kg) but he had to do his very best against Almas Khinekin in the finals. An Asian Youth bronze medallist, Beksultan Boranbek made the show at the flyweight (51kg), he defeated Azamat Zhumabek in the final.

The national team member at the bantamweight (54kg), Adilbek Kozhakhan was slightly better than Nurislam Beken but he succeeded in their final bout. Another ASBC Asian Youth medallist, Zhanseri Kosherbayev had the strong attacks to beat Bauyrzhan Muratov at the featherweight (57kg) final.

The new ASBC Asian Youth Champion at the lightweight (60kg), Aleksey Khavantsev eliminated Dias Oshakbay in the last four and stopped also Abubakir Makhambet for the gold medal with an early RSC triumph.

Russia’s Malik Sugaipov won the light welterweight (63.5kg) final against the local No.1, Akhmet Ussen in a hectic contest. Kazakhstan’s four-time Asian Champion in the junior and youth age groups, Torekhan Sabyrkhan walked over for the gold of the welterweight (67kg) against Dias Serikuly who was not present in the daily weigh-in.

Kazakhstan’s new Asian Youth Champion at the light middleweight (71kg), Oner Seilkhan had the right tactics and the long-distance shots to beat Russia’s Khamzat Timkhanov. The two-time Asian Champion Sanzhar-Ali Begaliyev walked over to the title of the middleweight (75kg) against Zhasulan Berdaly.

Damir Sineyev returned to the events with a title at the light heavyweight (80kg), and ASBC Asian Youth medallists such as Imangali Nurpeisov (86kg) and Rasul Assankhanov (92kg) won the next gold medals in Turkestan. The Asian Youth bronze medallist Nurgeldi Zhumatay controlled the final of the super heavyweight (+92kg) against Nurasyl Dumanov and the ringside doctor stopped their contest in the third round.
