Abdiyev, Kylychbekov and Zakirov defended their thrones at the Kyrgyzstan Junior National Championships
The 2022 edition of the Kyrgyzstan Junior National Championships took place at the Kozhomkul Arena in Bishkek in the recent days. Firdavs Abdiyev, Emir Kylychbekov and Mukhammadaziz Zakirov were the boxers who defended their thrones in the Kyrgyzstan Junior National Championships.
The Kyrgyz Boxing Federation hosted already three national competitions in 2022 starting the year with busy schedule. Their Kyrgyzstan Youth National Championships was held in Bishkek last week and their new competition took place also in their capital city. The Kyrgyz junior boxers earned several medals in the 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai, UAE five months ago.
Altogether 140 boxers attended in the national youth competition and the number of the athletes were even higher, 197 in the Junior National Championships. The junior event saw record number of 22 girls in Bishkek where eight female boxers and fifteen male champions have been crowned.
The national competition was their second selection for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships which will be held in Amman, Jordan from February 27 until March 15. The registrations are still open for the second ASBC Boxing Championships in 2022 and Kyrgyzstan has got strong expectations also in Amman.
The first gold medal of the whole event was achieved by Bishkek’s Vakhora Kasymova who defeated Asema Ryskulova in the final of the women’s pinweight (46kg). Chui region’s Alina Asanova achieved silver medal in 2021 which she changed into gold in the new edition, following her success over Aykyz Makhamatkulova at the flyweight (50kg).
Medina Abyldayeva attended at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and those experienced paid off in the new national event where she won the most crowded category, the bantamweight (54kg) and defeated Eldana Ashimova in the final by split decision. Batken region’s Zarina Kurbanova stopped all of her rivals including Valeriya Grigoreva in the final while Sofya Medvedeva was also too strong in her weight class.
Osh’s 14-year-old Mukhammad Kadyraliyev won the first male title of the Junior National Championships, he had enough technical skills to beat Emil Toychiyev in the final. Another boxer from Osh, Firdavs Abdiyev was gold medallist at the 42kg weight class in the 2021 Junior National Championships and he moved up only one category to the 44kg where he also defeated all of his rivals including Islam Sultanaliyev in the final.
Dzhalal-Abad region’s Zafarbek Kamilov changed his silver medal from 2021 into gold in the new edition after beating Amantur Zhumayev in the title bout of the pinweight (46kg). Chui region’s Temirkhan Daniyarov had tough contests in the 2021 Kyrgyz Junior National Championships in the city of Osh where he claimed bronze medal. The 15-year-old boxer defeated four rivals in the new national event including Bektur Manasov in the final.
Defending Junior National Champion Emir Kylychbekov was quarter-finalist at the 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships last August but his target in the upcoming Amman edition is event higher. The experienced boxer had to show his best skills to beat Ayzhigit Kanybekov of Osh in the final of the flyweight (50kg). The last year’s bronze medallist Nizamidin Yasynov moved up two categories but earned gold following his three narrow triumphs.
Chui region’s Ali Akhmed Pansher was not the main favourite at the bantamweight (54kg) but he managed to win his tough final against Oomat Belekbayev. Ramil Shamuza just joined from the schoolboys age group but he had the strength to win the featherweight (57kg) while Chui region’s Renat Shar controlled the lightweight (60kg). Chui region’s next success was achieved by Ramzan Kadyrov at the light welterweight (63kg) while his teammate Abdumalik Ismarov continued that winning series.
Dzhalal-Abad region’s Mukhammadaziz Zakirov achieved bronze medal at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and since then he moved up one category to the middleweight (75kg). He arrived to the event as a titleholder and dominated his next final against Bektemir Sadyrbekov. Azim Choybekov was bronze medallist at the heavyweight (+80kg) in 2021 but following his intense training sessions, the 16-year-old boxer moved down to the light heavyweight (80kg) and won that category.
