A new highlight for Macau – Their boxers earned three fantastic gold medals in the Greater Bay Area Three Cities Boxing Championships

Macau Boxing reached one of its best ever result in the recent period when three of their boxers claimed gold medals at the Greater Bay Area Three Cities Boxing Championships in Shenzhen, China.

Macau sent altogether six boxers to the Greater Bay Area Three Cities Boxing Championships where Macau, Hong Kong and China’s city, the team from Shenzhen participated for the medals and prizes.

Macau’s 14-year-old Lei Chi Ching is one of their main future hopes in women’s boxing who shocked all of her rivals in the competition. Macau’s new pride defeated Zhuang Mengxi of Shenzhen at the schoolgirls 35kg weight class which final bout finished in the second round.

Macau’s Dennis Wong won the junior light welterweight (63kg), he dominated his final against Shenzhen’s Li Wage and the referee stopped their bout in the first round. The 16-year-old talent landed the stronger shots in the opener of the final and he proved his strong future potential in our sport.

Chong Ching Chong, who controlled the first round against Shenzhen’s Wang Bowun at the youth lightweight (60kg), achieved Macau’s third gold medal in the competition. Chong increased his rhythm in the beginning of the second round and the ringside doctor stopped the bout due to the injury of the Chinese boxer.

The first season of the Macau Open Boxing Championships will start on July 28 by the time of the Paris Olympics. Hong Kong, China, and Macau will be taking part in the competition and a national level referee and judge seminar is also on the official agenda during the Macau Open Boxing Championships.

Macau plans to send its elite team to the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and before the competition, their boxers will be in training camp in Guangzhou, China on September.
