A historical moment – Afghanistan’s first international event the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament will be held in Kabul on September 1-7
The Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament will be the Afghanistan Boxing Federation’s first ever international tournament. The event has been upgraded from the level of national into international and will be held in their capital city of Kabul in September 1-7. The invitation file and the handbook of the competition is available and shared with all of the National Federations.
Afghanistan proved outstanding development in the recent ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships, their boxers are now competitive with the stars of the continent and the new international event also supports their progress. The Afghanistan Boxing Federation invites the National Federations to attend in their historical international elite tournament.
The last edition of the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament was a national level event in September 2020. That competition was the first major event after the quarantine period which was hosted by the Afghanistan Boxing Federation. Ahmad Gul Ahmadi, Farzad Shahid Temori from the Hameedi Boxing Club, Rahman Hussain Shahidi and Ahmad Jan Sadiq were the best boxers in the 2nd Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament in Kabul nearly nine months ago.
The first edition of the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament was held in October 2019 one year ago. The competition was named by Mr. Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi the former Secretary General of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation who has been killed in Kabul when he went to work to his office at the weekend. President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari followed all bouts in the event.
Finally, 14 regional associations and two provinces from all over Afghanistan attended in the 2nd edition of the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament in Kabul. Altogether 120 elite male boxers competed for the medals in the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament.
