ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Lin Yu Ting remains unbeaten in the Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup

The Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup for the elite youth and junior boxers were held in their capital city in Taipei. Their women stars as ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Lin Yu Ting, AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chen Nien Chin and AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships runner-up Huang Hsiao Wen won their weight classes with superb boxing show.
Their biggest annual event delivered top contests mainly in the women’s part of the national challenge in Taipei. The Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup was a preparation and selection event for the main competitions in 2018. Chinese Taipei’s best women boxers are joined to the cream of the world in the recent two years and they are ready to do big things also in 2018.
AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Pin Meng Chieh moved up to the Olympic flyweight (51kg) in the recent weeks and she dominated her contests in the main national event of Chinese Taipei. The 30-year-old experienced boxer used her speed and attractive style to beat a younger rival, Wu Shu Fen in the final.
Lin Yu Ting not only achieved the gold medal of the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City but she was named as the Best Boxer of the whole competition. The 22-year-old bantamweight (54kg) boxer was in different level than her opponents and celebrated her gold after beating Cheng Hsu Fu in the final.
AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships runner-up Huang Hsiao Wen competed also well enough in the national event following her successes in the international competitions. The 20-year-old ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Huang used her longer hands to beat Chen Ching Hsuan in the final of the lightweight (60kg) in Taipei.
Chen Nien Chin took only bronze medal in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City but certainly she did enough to win the middleweight (75kg) in her homeland. Besides to the top four women boxers of the country Chin Chian Huei (48kg), Lin Ssu Ting (57kg), super talented teenager Wu Shih Yi (64kg), Lin Li Wei (69kg) and Chen Shih Yi (+81kg) achieved the further titles in the women’s elite competition of the President’s Cup.
In the men’s part of the Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup the first gold medal was achieved by FISU University World Boxing Championships silver medallist Tu Po Wei who is 20 but had enough experiences to beat Huang Wen Ching in the final of the elite light flyweight (49kg) in Taipei.
AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Hsu Cheng Yu is only 18 but he is among Chinese Taipei’s best elite man boxers nowadays. Hsu, who impressed the crowd in the youth competitions, was enough quick to beat Li Yu Hsiang in the final of the men’s elite flyweight (52kg) in the President’s Cup.
National Games silver medallist Lin Yu Ting moved up to the bantamweight (56kg) and worked well in the final when he met with Hsieh Shao Hsiang. In the absence of Rio 2016 Olympian Lai Chu En, National Games silver medallist Lin Yu Chun won the lightweight (60kg) after beating ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Sung Wei Chieh. A teenage talent Hsieh Kai Yu captured the title of the light welterweight (64kg) following his success over Chen Chia Chi.
Pan Hung Min was quarter-finalist in the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event in 2016 and he repeated that performance in the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. The 20-year-old boxer moved up to the welterweight (69kg) and shined in the final when he met with Chang Yi Yang.
Following Li Sheng Ta’s and Chu Chun Chieh’s successes Ho Shao Hui performed well in his new heavyweight (91kg) and defeated Huang Ning Yen in the final of the President’s Cup. The last gold medal of the elite men competition was taken by Pu Yi Ching who controlled his final against Shih Hsin Te.
