The South Korean team trained in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan invited South Korea to a common training camp which was the first preparation of the two strong Asian teams to the main goals of 2018. South Korea’s best boxers including Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Kim In Kyu also attended in the training camp in Uzbekistan with his teammates.
Korean Boxing Federation has got great possibilities in the future and their officials and coaches invited the Uzbek squad for common sparring before the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships to Incheon in August. Following their first joint camp in 2017, Uzbekistan Boxing Federation welcomed the South Koreans in the end of the year to prepare together to the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games.
Kazakhstan’s Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games bronze medallist Mr. Bolat Niyazymbetov is not the head coach of the Korean national boxing team but he supports their preparation and under his management South Korea has been achieving even better results in the international elite competitions. Mr. Bolat Niyazymbetov has got excellent relationships with the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation which was the key moment of the two training camps.
The South Korean boxers achieved one bronze medal Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships, one gold medal in the Guwahati 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships and also one title in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships this year. The South Koreans achieved five quota places for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships which was a strong performance from their athletes.
The top Uzbek youngsters, who were born in 1998 or in 1999, were there in their first training camp in South Korea with super talented boxers leading by their coaches Mr. Farrukh Kilichev and Mr. Alisher Rakhimov. Among them 18-year-old Khudoynazar Fayzov won the gold medal at the light flyweight (49kg) in the Uzbek Elite National Championships in Termez one month ago.
