Lee Chi Ling won the women’s lightweight in the Macau Open Boxing Tournament
Macau Boxing Association hosted Macau Open Boxing Tournament in their capital city and six new winners celebrated their titles after the finals. Lee Chi Ling won the women’s lightweight (60kg) and she is aiming for a place in the national team to compete in the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games.
Macau is a developing boxing nation in the East Asian region and to raise the skills of their talents Macau Boxing Association is looking for a new coach. Mr. Lai Pak Leng is the President of the Macau Boxing Association who is working hard to develop the sport in spite of the fact combat arts are not enough popular in the country.
Mr. Billy Vong Kuok Veng is Macau’s famous ITO who has been supporting the world’s biggest competitions with his experiences and also trying to develop the sport in his country. Macau is planning to send boxers to the upcoming Asian Games which will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia next August.
Macau has got women boxing since 2004 but in the recent years they were not able to box internationally in the female part of the sport. Lee Chi Ling is Macau’s future hope in women’s boxing who defeated Ella Kou by split decision in the final of the lightweight (60kg) and won the lone female category in the Macau Open Boxing Tournament.
The first gold medal in the men’s part of the Macau Open Boxing Tournament was achieved by Ng Man Long who defeated Wong Kok Wing in the final of the lightweight (60kg). Ceasar Chai controlled mainly the first two rounds against Zhang Guoqiang in the final of the light welterweight (64kg) and celebrated the second title in the event.
Rishi Gurung has got strong roots to Nepal but he is fighting for Macau and proved his best in the final of the welterweight (69kg) against Cheing Wan Sheng. The gold medal of the middleweight (75kg) was achieved by Ng Kuok Kun while the light heavyweight (81kg) gold medal was gone to K.C. Madhav who was too strong for Roy in the final. The referee confirmed his RSC success in the third round of their final which was the last one in the Macau Open Boxing Tournament.
