Four AIBA Women’s World Champion in the Kazakh team which will be competing in Ho Chi Minh City
Kazakhstan will be sending maximum number of 10 boxers to the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships which will be starting in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam soon. Their squad contains AIBA Women’s World Champions, Olympic medallists and young talents as well.
Kazakhstan achieved altogether five gold medals in the history of the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships but their head coach Mr. Vadim Prysiazhniuk is planning to raise this number in Ho Chi Minh City where record number of the boxers is expecting to take part.
Astana hosted the last edition of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in May 2016. Their four defending AIBA Women’s World Champions as Nazym Kyzaibay, Dina Zholaman, Valentina Khalzova and Lazzat Kungeibayeva all of them will be there in their travelling team in Ho Chi Minh City.
AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Alua Balkybekova defeated her main rival, Alina Turlubayeva in the final of the Kazakh Women’s National Championships therefore the 21-year-old youngster received the right at the very first time to compete in a major elite event.
Kazakhstan’s first two-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay moved up to the Olympic flyweight (51kg) in the recent one year and she is ready to win a title in her new category. Kyzaibay had to beat AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Zhaina Shekerbekova in the national selection tournaments.
Another defending AIBA Women’s World Champion Dina Zholaman defeated her main rival Aida Tuyakbay at the bantamweight (54kg) in the national events and secured her place in the travelling team. Zholaman is 25 now and her aggressive attacking style could be the way of the successes in Ho Chi Minh City.
AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Nazym Ishchanova moved down to the featherweight (57kg) and competed well enough in the Kazakhstan Women’s National Boxing Championships in Astana. Ishchanova, who will be turning to 20 only later this year, could be a surprise in Ho Chi Min City.
Rimma Volosenko received the right to box for Kazakhstan at the lightweight (60kg) in the last edition of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Astana which was a surprise when their head coach Mr. Vadim Prysiazhniuk selected the squad. After a few unexpected losses Volosenko returned to the national event in top form and her upgraded skills could be enough for at least a medal in Ho Chi Minh City.
Madina Nurshayeva is member of the national team since 2015 who attended also in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Wulanchabu. The light welterweight (64kg) boxer won her last preparation event, the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament in Poland where she triumphed over experienced stars as well.
Kazakhstan’s Valentina Khalzova won the gold medal in the last edition of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in May 2016 therefore she is also a favourite at the welterweight (69kg) in Ho Chi Minh City. The 21-year-old boxer was not enough shape in the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament in Poland but after the hard trainings of the recent weeks she is in better form.
Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist and defending ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Dariga Shakimova returned to the world of boxing after the August’s event and won her next national title at the middleweight (75kg) this year. Her impressive performance in the recent months means she is among the favourites for the title in Ho Chi Minh City.
Experienced 26-year-old Moldir Bazarbayeva has been competing in the international level since 2010 and reached the top level of the light heavyweight (81kg) in the recent two years. Defending AIBA Women’s World Champion Lazzat Kungeibayeva of Astana is the key boxer of the heavyweight (+81kg) in the globe who has been preparing to get her first Asian title in Ho Chi Minh City.
