Bhutan’s historical participation in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup
Bhutan Boxing Federation has done a big step in their road to the further developments as the country will be sending their first ever woman boxer to an international event in the upcoming days. Bhutan is very active in the international boxing map and their new female boxer Tandin Lhamo, who won their national selection tournament, received the right to show her skills at the flyweight (51kg) in the Mongolian capital city.
Bhutan is the 32nd Asian country which will be sending female boxer to an international event since women’s boxing was launched in 2001. The young Lhamo will be turning 21 only later this year and focusing to her first ever international competition. The Thimphu-based boxer needs experiences in the international level before the forthcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships.
The Ulaanbaatar Box Cup will be one of the highlight in the Asian boxing map next month which will be held in the Mongolian capital in June 20-26. The competition will be held in the currently three Olympic women’s weight classes at the 51kg, 60kg and 75kg. Furthermore the men boxers will be able to box in seven weight categories from the 49kg up to the 75kg.
The boxers who will be reaching the semi-finals will be getting not only medals but money prizes as well in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup. Among the top boxing countries host Mongolia, China, Russia, Philippines, India, Kyrgyzstan and DPR Korea all will be there in the upcoming Ulaanbaatar Box Cup.
During the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup a 2-star AIBA Refereeing & Judging Course is scheduled. Ulaanbaatar Cup is the new name of the previous Chinggis Khan Cup which was held last time in October 2016. The 2-star AIBA R&J Course will be held in June 18-26 including with the dare of the arrival and departure.
