Malaysia sends seven-strong team to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships to Tashkent

The Malaysian Boxing Federation will be sending seven-strong team to the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships to Tashkent where the competition will be starting on April 27. The competition will be also an important step for the Malaysians before their Southeast Asian Games which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in August.
Malaysia’s best boxer Commonwealth Games and Asian Games quarter-finalist Muhamad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan can expect top result in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent. The 26-year-old light flyweight (49kg) boxer, who began boxing in 2003, competed in all of the major boxing events in the recent years excluding the Olympic Games.
Terengganu’s Abdul Salam Bin Kasim is one of the most talented boxer of their new generation in Malaysia. He won their last edition of the Malaysian National Games with superb performance one year ago. The 20-year-old flyweight (52kg) talent can show his great technique in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan which will be his first event out of Malaysia.
Mohamed Al-Nazirul Othman joined to the national squad in 2013 and he had the chance to raise his experiences in the international level in the recent years. He moved up to the lightweight (60kg) and following his participation at the Commonwealth Games and at the Southeast Asian Games, he received the right to box in the continental level as well.
Malaysia’s top international boxer besides to Muhamad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan, 25-year-old Khir Akyazlan Bin Azmi is member of the national squad since 2009 an will be there also in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent. Akyazlan competed at the welterweight (69kg) in the last Malaysian national events but he decided to return to his previous one to the light welterweight (64kg).
Theena Thayalan Raja Selvan claimed gold medal in the Malaysian National Games last year and since then he moved up to the welterweight (69kg). He was born only in 1997 and became the youngest winner in the Malaysian National Games one year ago. Theena Thayalan Raja Selvan will be boxing out of his country at the very first time.
Malaysia’s middleweight (75kg) talent and China Open Tournament competitor Indra Ramakrishnan was only bronze medallist in the last edition of the Malaysian National Cup but he received the right to represent his country in the continental level at the very first time. The seventh team member will be Johor’s Adli Hafiz Bin Mohamed Pauzi who won the last two editions of the Penang Pesta International Tournament.
