Uzbekistan’s strong future team is among the favourites in the Great Silk Way Tournament in Baku

The Great Silk Way Tournament is a traditional boxing competition in Baku, Azerbaijan where the strong Uzbek team will be also taking part. Their seven-strong squad contains young talents but their boxers are enough experienced now to win titles in the prestigious Great Silk Way Tournament.
Uzbekistan proved amazing performance in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games where their boxers claimed three titles and four further medals in the August’s event. The amazing result of their boxers delivered development in Uzbekistan and the country is ready now to host the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships as well.
Uzbekistan’s light flyweight (49kg) No.1 is Rio 2016 Olympic Champion Hasanboy Dusmatov but their new 20-year-old sensation in that category is Mironskhokh Ibragimov who amazed the crowd also in the World Series of Boxing. The National Championships silver medallist boxer will be represented Uzbekistan in the Great Silk Way Tournament with high expectations.
Uzbekistan’s new flyweight (52kg) talent is Sirodjiddin Gulomjonov who claimed the gold medal in the Riga Open Tournament last December. Uzbekistan’s another future star could be Ikboljon Kholdarov who claimed bronze medal in the 2014 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and won his contest also in the AIBA Pro Boxing as the youngest ever boxer. The light welterweight (64kg) boxer is among the gold medal contenders in the upcoming Great Silk Way Tournament.
Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Meliboev was National Champion in 2015 while since then he moved up to the welterweight (69kg). The 21-year-old boxer won contests also in the Season VI of the World Series of Boxing and can expect at least a medal in the Great Silk Way Tournament. His teammate in the World Series of Boxing Makhmud Gaipov was also born in 1996 as Meliboev and after his amazing youth results he claimed gold medal in the 2016 Strandja Memorial Tournament.
Madiyar Saidrakhimov was gold medallist in the 2015 Uzbekistan Youth National Championships and since then the 20-year-old talent moved up to the light heavyweight (81kg). Uzbekistan’s Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games silver medallist Sardorbek Begaliev is member of the World Series of Boxing squad and received the right to box in his new heavyweight (91kg) once again.
