Astana Arlans Kazakhstan won the key match against the Uzbek Tigers in the Week3 of the World Series of Boxing
The Season VII in the World Series of Boxing continued with four matches over weekend and three Asian teams have also attended on Week 3. Astana Arlans Kazakhstan defeated the strong Uzbek Tigers in a key match in Taldykorgan while China Dragons lost to the Russian franchise, the Patriot Boxing Team in Sanya.
Astana Arlans Kazakhstan vs. Uzbek Tigers 4-1
Two-time WSB Team Champion Astana Arlans Kazakhstan had to meet with the Semi-finalists of Season VI the Uzbek Tigers in Taldykorgan and their boxers exceeded the previous expectations with their four victories in the home match. The final result was 4-1 in the encounter which means Astana Arlans Kazakhstan is the leader of the Asian Group after two matches.
Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Champion Olzhas Sattibayev was not enough shape against the Uzbek Tiger Abrorjon Kodirov in the first two rounds but the seven years older boxer was able to turn back their flyweight (52kg) contest. Zakir Safiullin, who is also a veteran boxer in the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan franchise, delivered a sensational triumph against Uzbekistan’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist Murodjon Akhmadaliev at the lightweight (60kg) in Taldykorgan.
Uzbekistan’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver medallist Shakhram Giyasov was superb in the first two rounds against Aslanbek Shymbergenov but the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s boxer was able to turn back their top level bout in the same way as Sattibayev therefore the host franchise won the match after three contests. Uzbekistan’s second Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver medallist boxer in action was Bektemir Melikuziev who was too strong to Nurdaulet Zharmanov while the world class bout of the super heavyweight (+91kg) was won by Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s Kamshybek Kunkabayev over strong Bakhodir Jalolov.

China Dragons vs. Patriot Boxing Team 1-4
China Dragons had a lucky triumph against the Uzbek Tigers on Week1 but the third Asian franchise was not able to win their second home match against their European rivals. The Patriot Boxing Team which is the new brand name of the Russian franchise was able to win their match 4-1 in Sanya.
China Dragons’ first boxer in action was Chang Yong who claimed gold medal in the 2011 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Incheon and after a few poor years he returned to serve China’s boxing team in the World Series of Boxing. The 30-year-old Chinese veteran launched effective punches and controlled most of the rounds against Ovik Ogannisian and delivered China Dragons’ lone triumph in Sanya.
China’s Rio 2016 Olympian Shan Jun and Chinggis Khan Cup winner experienced Hu Richabilige was near to beat their Russian rivals but their performance in the last two rounds were not enough to win these narrow contests. Shi Guojun did not have any realistic chance to win his light heavyweight (81kg) bout against Danil Shved while another returning Chinese boxer Wang Leilei did nice things in the ring against a top level Russian athlete.
