Six Malaysian gold medals in the Penang Pesta International Tournament
The Penang Pesta International Tournament is now a traditional competition in the Southeast Asian region which event was held in the city of the popular Penang. Malaysia’s best boxer Muhammad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan was amazing in the new edition while Singapore’s two hopes were also enough strong to win their weight classes in Penang.
Malaysia will be hosting the next edition of the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur in August 2017 therefore after their National Golden Gloves Tournament and National Cup this international competition was also a big step for their hopes in the road of the key event in the new year.
Malaysia’s top boxer ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Muhammad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan is member of the national team since 2009 and since then he competed in all of the major boxing events excluding the Olympic Games. The 25-year-old light flyweight (49kg) boxer defeated his teammate Mohamed Shahrazi Sepri in the final with a quick combination there the referee confirmed his TKO success still in the first round.
Malaysia’s second gold medal was achieved by Muhammad Azlizam Bin Abu Talib who stopped his teammate Muhammad Syafizuddin Bin Abu Seman in the final of the flyweight (52kg). Singapore’s Youth Olympian 23-year-old Mohamed Hanurdeen Bin Hamid and Thailand’s newcomer Natthapong Siammai claimed the bronze medals in this weight class at the Penang Pesta International Tournament.
Sunan Agung Amoragam won the last edition of the Indonesian National Games and won his key bout in the semi-final against Malaysia’s Southeast Asian Games competitor Arfiqanie Ahmad Anshori. He continued his winning path against Indonesia’s defending champion in Penang, Supriadi in the final of the bantamweight (56kg) which was one of the best in the last competition day. The 19-year-old Amoragam defeated Indonesia’s top boxer Julio Bria a few months ago and now he was able to get his first ever international tournament title.
Singapore’s first gold medal in the Penang Pesta International Tournament was delivered by Muhammad Hafiz who stopped Indonesia’s Jonathan Siagian in the semi-final and Thailand’s Sattawat Khansai in the final of the lightweight (60kg) which was a small surprise in the Penang Pesta International Tournament.
Malaysia’s Mohamed Khairol Bin Kalai, who won their National Games two-times, competed in the China Open Tournament half year ago to raise his international experiences. The 23-year-old light welterweight (64kg) boxer had enough skills to beat Thailand’s Saran Paladgong in the final of the Penang Pesta Tournament.
Malaysia’s next gold medal was achieved by Mohammad Rahidi Bin Mahmud who was able to beat his teammate Wan Nur Hafiz Bin Wan Zahalan at the welterweight (69kg). Singapore’s second gold medal was achieved by Sayid Qabeer Shah Bin Mahmud who returned to the national squad after a break. He competed in the 2012 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and did not give any chance for Malaysia’s Hui Keng Fai at the middleweight (75kg).
Malaysia’s Adli Hafiz Pauzi competed in the last editions of their national competitions and won his second Penang Pesta Tournament after beating Singapore’s Muhammad Bin Abdul Rahman in the final of the light heavyweight (81kg). Malaysia’s Arason Ramalingam was in different level than his compatriot Muhammad Aizal Syafiq Rizal in the final of the heavyweight (91kg) therefore the referee confirmed his TKO success in the first round.
