More than 300 boxers attends in the Afghanistan National Elite & Youth Championships

Afghanistan’s main boxing event their National Championships for the elite and youth boxers began in the capital city of the country in Kabul. More than 300 boxers registered and attend in the event from all of the 15 provinces of Afghanistan which is record in the history of their National Championships.
Afghanistan is a developing nation in the Asian continent which has got the same political issues as in Syria but boxing survived in the country and the national federation is trying to organize events to raise the experiences of their boxers.
Afghanistan has got a lot of financial problems and difficulties due political reasons but their boxers are brave fighters and trying to compete also in the international level. The Afghan national boxing team competed in the Asian Students Championships which was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan where they claimed one silver and one bronze medal. Their boxers also competed in the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event in Qian’an, China and at the World Olympic Qualification Event in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Kabul Selection Team Event was held a few months ago where the 84 boxers competed for the medals and the places for the Afghanistan National Championships. Afghanistan Boxing Federation also hosted their Junior National Championships this year where the number of the boxers was also more than 200.
Afghanistan is planning to send four boxers to the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships to St. Petersburg therefore the youth competition is very important for the 17 and 18-year-old boxers.
