Bandung will be the host of the upcoming Indonesian National Games

The Indonesian National Games will be held in the city of Bandung which is located in Eastern Jawa and will be the country’s main boxing event in 2016. The National Games will be held for both genders and it is also a selection competition for the further international events in the beginning of the new Tokyo 2020 Olympic era. The Indonesian National Games will be held between September 16 and 29.
Asia’s third largest populated country, Indonesia is even more active in the boxing map in comparison to their commitment in the previous years. The local federation hosted big selection tournaments in the Maluku region in Ambon, in Kupang and also in Batam to select the best boxers to the Indonesian National Games.
Indonesia delivered great results in the President’s Cup last April and also delivered good performance in the Singapore 2015 Southeast Asian Games fifteen months ago in last June. Indonesia’s best hope Kornelis Kwangu Langu could attend in the AIBA Pro Boxing and after the Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships he needed some rest and did not participate in the qualification events for the National Games.
Women boxing developed well in Indonesia in the recent years and some of their athletes could be join to the bests in Asia. Indonesia’s best women boxers can compete in six weight classes: 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg and 64 kg. The top Indonesian men athletes will be competing in ten weight categories in Bandung: 46 kg, 49 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 81 kg and 91 kg.
After the selection events for the Indonesian National Games 175 boxers can take part in the competition in Bandung. Among them 67 will be women boxers while 31 provinces can send athletes to the Games where Jawa Island will have maximum number of 16 competitors. Maluku, Papua, and Sumatera also will have big delegations in the National Games.
