The Kyrgyz squad trains with strong Algeria for the Final AOB World Olympic Qualification Event

Kyrgyzstan achieved one quota place for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event in Qian’an, China where Erkin Adylbek Uulu secured the spot for the August’s competition. Their best boxers have been preparing together with the Algerians for that event in Issyk-Kul.
Kyrgyzstan’s best boxers such as Azat Usenaliev, Ermek Sakenov, Turat Osmonov and Omurbek Malabekov did not qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games yet therefore they have to keep the focus to the upcoming Final AOB World Olympic Qualification Event which will be held between 14-27 June in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Following Erkin Adylbek Uulu’s quota in the Light Heavyweight class (81 kg) Kyrgyzstan can send maximum number of nine boxers to the Final AOB World Olympic Qualification Event to Baku to raise the number of their Olympic places. Kyrgyzstan’s record number of places for the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games was in Sydney in 2000 when five of their athletes could qualify for the Australian event.
The head coach of the boxing team of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Adilkan Bekbolotov called 15 boxers to the training camp to Issyk-Kul which is located off the coast of the country’s biggest lake in the mountains. Their basic preparation for Baku began in the mountains with physical sessions and following that the squad will return to Bishkek for sparring.
Besides to the 15 strong Kyrgyz boxers the Algerian squad is also there in the joint training camp in Issyk-Kul where the North Africans began their preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as their stars have already qualified for the August’s event. Abdelkader Chadi, Abdelhafid Benchabla and Mohamed Flissi are medal hopefuls for Algeria in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
