AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event – Uzbekistan Preview
Uzbekistan plans big results in the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event in Qianan
Uzbekistan sent nine boxers to the upcoming AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event which will be starting in Qianan, China with its first competition day on March 25. The strong nation claimed six medals in the Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships and nine podium places in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
Former Olympic Games bronze medallist coach Mr. Rustam Saidov’s national team secured four quota places in 2015 and has got chance to raise this number up to 8-10 in Qianan where all of their men team members are among the bests in the Asian continent. Their women team developed well in the recent two years but their talents need to be raised their international experiences to reach the world class.
Uzbekistan’s defending ASBC Asian Confederation Champion Hasanboy Dusmatov won all of his nine WSB bouts during his career and has got the skills to win the gold medal at the Light Flyweight class (49 kg) in Qianan. The 22-year-old boxer won the Olympic Test Event last December and he is planning to return to Brazil in August.
Uzbekistan’s best Flyweight class (52 kg) boxer Shakhobiddin Zoirov achieved silver medals in the 2013 & 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and also at the Incheon 2014 Asian Games. After three silver medals the 22-year-old boxer is planning to get his first title in the most important competition.
Uzbekistan’s new Welterweight class (69 kg) boxer will be Shakhram Giyasov who claimed gold medal in their National Championships last November. The 22-year-old boxer competed in the international elite level in 2012 therefore he has got enough experiences to get an Olympic spot in the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event.
Elshod Rasulov involved to the national team of Uzbekistan in 2005 and since then he claimed two gold medals in the Asian Games and three medals in the AIBA World Boxing Championships. Besides to Kazakhstan’s Adilbek Niyazymbetov he is the favourite of the Light Heavyweight class (81 kg) in Qianan while his expecting Rio appearance would be his third Olympic Games during his career.
Uzbekistan’s top Heavyweight class (91 kg) boxer Rustam Tulaganov is the main favourite for the gold medal at the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event. The 25-year-old boxer claimed silver medal in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok and defeated all of his main regional rivals in the recent years.
Kazakhstan’s Ivan Dychko dominated all of the Asian events in the recent years but Uzbekistan’s Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Bakhodir Jalolov reached his level after a few years of experiences in our sport. The three-time National Champion tall boxer is faster than his opponents and also has got realistic chance to win a quota for Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan’s best woman boxer ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist 19-year-old Yodgoroy Mirzaeva moved down two weight classes and proved developed skills in the Strandja Memorial Tournament last month. She has been trained hard to adopt quickly the level of the world class boxers.
Their Women’s Lightweight class (60 kg) National Champion Makhfuzakhon Ergasheva and Nafisakhon Askarova also involved to the travelling team. Askarova defeated a strong Italian boxer in the Strandja Memorial Tournament where she also proved she is on the best way to join to the bests in the upcoming years.
