ASBC Interim President Mr. Aziz Kozhambetov announced that Ablaikhan Zhussupov is the winner of the 71kg weight class after Asadullaev was disqualified
Following a protest from the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation, the Technical Delegate of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships, Mrs, Sadie Duffy of Ireland, made the decision to disqualify Uzbekistan’ Andizhan-based Khavasbek Asadullaev for a serious foul which he committed during the final bout of the light middleweight (71kg) final.
This foul, classified under Rule 21.1.8 of the T&C Rules as a biting of an opponent, was overlooked by the referee, however it was established at the later stage.
Under Rule 19.8.1 of the T&C Rules, if a boxer is disqualified for any reason, Ablaikhan Zhussupov (KAZ) is subsequently declared the winner of the bout by disqualification (DSQ).
Uzbekistan’s Boxam Tournament winner Khavasbek Asadullayev and Kazakhstan’s three-time World bronze medallist Ablaikhan Zhussupov met in the final of the light middleweight (71kg). The returning Kazakh was technically impressed in the title contest and after he achieved silver medals in 2017 and in 2021 editions, he is now an ASBC Asian Elite Champion.
