The Kyrgyzstan Elite National Championships is underway in Bishkek to decide the spots for Chiang Mai

The Kyrgyzstan Elite National Championships opened at the Kozhomkul Sports Complex in their capital city at in Bishkek which is the main national event for them in 2024.

The Kyrgyzstan Elite National Championships is the last selection event for the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which will be held from November 28.

Kyrgyzstan earned a historic silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games following Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu’s fantastic run in the French capital at the men’s featherweight (57kg). His Olympic silver medal expressed a boxing boom in the country and Kyrgyzstan impressed also in the previous schoolboys, junior and youth championships as well.

The number of the women boxers is 17 in five weight classes: light flyweight (50kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg) and light middleweight (70kg) are on the board in Bishkek.

Altogether 103 men elite boxers are participating in the Kyrgyzstan Elite National Championships from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) and 13 champions will receive their gold medals.

The women’s featherweight (57kg) has still quarter-final stage as well in the Elite National Championships and the country is planning to increase their possibilities in female’s boxing in the near future.

The men’s featherweight (57kg) has a huge rivalry in Kyrgyzstan between Turgunbek Imankadyrov of Chui region and Islam Torobayev of Issyk-Kul region. The experts are anticipating their bout for the gold medal in the Kyrgyzstan Elite National Championships.

The light welterweight (63.5kg), the welterweight (67kg) and the light middleweight (71kg) are the most popular divisions in the Elite National Championships with the participation of 12-12 boxers. Such young stars as the ASBC Asian Youth Champion Almaz Orozbekov (67kg), Ikhtiyar Nishonov (67kg), Vadim Baurin (71kg), and Eldar Turdubayev (71kg) could be key boxers in these categories.

The 20-year-old new sensation, Daniel Abdrakhmanov and the ASBC Asian U22 silver medallist Sultan Asankul Uulu are aiming for the title at the men’s middleweight (75kg) and one of them have the chance to represent Kyrgyzstan in Chiang Mai.

Kyrgyzstan is looking for a top boxer at the super heavyweight (+92kg) in that category where they had many issues in the past. Their Youth World quarter-finalist 18-year-old Myrzakir Koshaliyev received the right to participate in the Elite National Championships for the very first time and might be he could be a solution for the future in this weight class.
