Chinese Taipei selected a new and young team to Chiang Mai
Chinese Taipei selected seven female and eight male boxers to the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships which will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from November 28.
Chinese Taipei reached its absolutely top highlight at the Paris Olympics where their female boxers claimed one gold and two bronze medals. Their boxers achieved also several medals in the last 2022 edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman but the country selected a new and young team to Chiang Mai.
Chinese Taipei hosted its National Selection Tournament a few weeks ago together with their President’s Cup for the junior high school and high school boxers. The winners received the right to participate at the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships.
Guo Yi Hsuan is only 19-year-old but she competed already in the 1st and 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Events in Busto Arsizio and in Bangkok. The teenage hope moved back to the minimumweight (48kg) and she will return to Thailand after six months to earn her first Asian medal.
Chiu Ching Yu is another 19-year-old female talent in the team who competed for Chinese Taipei at the 2023 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and at the 2024 ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships.
Their next young ace, the President’s Cup winner Yao Ching Yu moved back to the featherweight (57kg) following her participation at the annual ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships.
Their new female lightweight (60kg) team member, Ye Chen Hsuan achieved her first national medal still in 2019. Chang Chia Hsun competed in all of the national events in the previous six years and she has medal hopes at the light welterweight (63kg).
Two of their young women talents, Luo Yu Ting (52kg) and Lee Min (66kg) will be making their international debut in Chiang Mai to show their current technical level.
Hsu Po Hao is Chinese Taipei’s new flyweight (51kg) boxer who participated in the 2023 World Boxing Championships in Tashkent and he knows the environment of the international competitions.
Another teenager in the team, Lai Yan Lin have competed already at the 2022 ISF Gymnasiade and at the Youth World Boxing Championships in the same year but Chiang Mai will be his debut among the elite boxers.
Their male featherweight (57kg) boxer, Lin Jun You joined the national team in 2023 and he has the experience from Tashkent and some other events. Lin Yu (63.5kg) represented Chinese Taipei in several events including at the last Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships.
Lin Chia Hsin was also member of their national team in the 2023 World Boxing Championships in Tashkent and he will compete at the light middleweight (71kg). Tsai Han Ting (60kg), Chiuan Wang Jia Jyun (67kg) and Liu Cheng En (75kg) were also added to the travelling team.
