Saudi Arabia announced its four-strong team to the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships

The ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships will be starting in Chiang Mai, Thailand on November 28 and the Saudi Arabians have selected their four-strong team to the upcoming event.

Following their regional competitions, the most important event in the country was the Saudi Arabian National Games one month ago. That is a multisport event with the participation of 9,000 female and male athletes in 53 sports and boxing was one of the highlights in the money prize event which was also selection for the national team.

Mr. Abdullah Al-Harbi, the President of the Saudi Arabian Boxing Federation, their ASBC Board of Director, Mrs. Rasha Al-Khamis, and Mr. Kevin Smith, the Technical Director of the Federation are working hard to make strong progress in Saudi Arabia’s boxing life.

The 20-year-old Hala Saleh Alrashidi moved back to the light flyweight (50kg) in the recent weeks and this upcoming Chiang Mai event will be her first ever Asian Championships. She was quarter-finalist at the 2023 Arab Sports Games which was her debut in the international stage of boxing.

Another female boxer from the 2004 age group, Yara Alamri will compete at the flyweight (52kg) in Chiang Mai. She participated in all of the important regional and national events but the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships will be a big challenge in her career.

Their male bantamweight (54kg) boxer, Fawaz Nasser Aluhaybi is only 19-year-old but he has already international experience from the Abbas Aghalarov Youth Memorial Tournament which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan last December.

Mousa Al Hawsawi is the oldest boxer in the entire Saudi delegation with his age of 21 and the light welterweight (63.5kg) talent proved top results in 2024. He defeated all of his main national rivals such as Thamer Almatrfi and Abdelkarim Zridy in the recent Saudi Arabian National Games.
