Kazakhstan’s new wave, Satayev, Nurmukhan, Alpysbayev and Aitmukhanov won the Satybayev Youth Tournament

The Satybayev Youth Tournament was held in the city of Kokshetau, Kazakhstan and several of the 17-year-old talents shined in the international competition.

Kokshetau is the capital of the Akmola region in Kazakhstan and it has the population of 150,000. The boxers from the 2007 and 2008 age groups were eligible to participate in the Satybayev Youth Tournament in Kokshetau.

The team from the Almaty region topped the medal rankings with their four gold medals in this strong international event. Akmola region’s local squad became the runner-up in the Satybayev Youth Tournament after the Almaty region, while Mangystau region ranked No.3 with their two gold medals.

The first winner was Alisher Arivzhan of Astana who defeated Nursultan Seitbek from the Turkestan region at the pinweight (46kg) final. Nurbek Azadov, who triumphed over Sagyndyk Yessembek in the next minimumweight (48kg) final, captured the Almaty region’s first title in Kokshetau.

Akmola region’s Beksultan Kobergenov won all of his three contests by split decisions at the flyweight (51kg) and he reached his career highlight. Pavlodar region’s Mukhamedali Kaliyev won four bouts at the bantamweight (54kg) with dominance including his final against Darkhan Ussen of Astana.

Uzbekistan’s lone title was achieved by Jamshid Jabbarov at the featherweight (57kg) in Kokshetau where he was better than a local boy, Ansar Kabdeshov. The best final was held between Ali Mereke of Kazakhstan and the Junior World Championships bronze medallist Dilerbek Sadirov of Kyrgyzstan. The local Akmola region’s boxer was favoured in the final and he won that fantastic bout by 2:1 split decision.

Tagir Satayev is a fantastic talent, he earned several gold medals in junior competitions in Serbia, in Azerbaijan and in Kazakhstan in 2023. Mr. Ruslan Sariyev and a physical trainer Mr. Azamat Sultanov support his preparations in the city of Uralsk and Satayev returned with a gold medal at the welterweight (67kg) after beating Temirlan Aliyev of Almaty region.

The Asian Junior silver medallist Bekarys Nurmukhan is one of the best talents in this age group and he had the skills to beat Uzbekistan’s Shavkat Ruziyev at the light middleweight (71kg). Atyrau region’s Asian Junior Champion Zhandos Alpysbayev also has a strong pedigree from the previous events and he defeated Yerbolat Kungratbayev at the middleweight (75kg) final with a great finish.

Mangystau region’s Asian Junior silver medallist Bakytzhan Aitmukhanov was in different level as his opponents and he stopped Aidyn Sarsen in the first round at the cruiserweight (86kg) final. Aniyat Tileuzhan (92kg) and Nursultan Zholdasbek (+92kg) won the last two remaining titles in the city of Kokshetau.
