Nisha and Fujiki made emerging victories in Pueblo

The World Boxing’s U19 World Boxing Championships continued with 27 bouts in Pueblo, United States where the number of the boxers is 165 from 25 nations. India’s Nisha, Japan’s Yuga Fujiki, Thailand’s Aphichit Chaemdi and Philippines’ John Steven Demaisip all were among the winners of the second competition day.

India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand are the participating Asian countries in Pueblo. Boxers who were born in 2006 and in 2007, are eligible to participate at the U19 World Boxing Championships in the United States.

Italy’s 51kg boxer, Martina Vassallo surprised India’s Asian Youth Champion Nisha in the first round and started the bout in good rhythm, The Italian had good actions but Nisha received the right instructions in time during the break to find the best weapons against Vassallo. The Indian star made a strong comeback in the second and third rounds to eliminate the Italian in her opening bout in Pueblo.

Japan’s Yuga Fujiki was fantastic in the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships where he became the best boxer of the competition. The 17-year-old Japanese gained the control immediately against New Zealand’s Edward Richards who was not enough competitive today. The Japanese smashed the Kiwi boxer and after two minutes of fight and the referee stopped this unequal lightweight (60kg) contest. His teammate, the East Asian Youth Games winner Fuma Kumamoto also succeeded in the second day of boxing.

Thailand’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Aphichit Chaemdi and Kyrgyzstan’s Asian medallist Dilerbek Sadirov made the best fight of the day in Pueblo. The Kyrgyz ruled the middle of the ring and he used his punching power to reduce the fighting range successfully in the first round. The Thai returned with better counter-attacks in the second round and the 17-year-old Chaemdi was able to make a U-turn in the early final of the 60kg weight class.

South Korea’s Lee Dong Hyeon was taller than Finland’s Leevi Salo at the men’s 60kg weight class and his tactics set up based on his physical advantage. Lee was not enough successful in the exchanges despite his longer reach in the first and second rounds, but the South Korean made a strong finish in the third to eliminate Salo today.

Philippines’ ASBC Asian Junior Championships quarter-finalist John Steven Demaisip had the advantage in routine, speed and technical skills against Czechia’s Simon Sedenka at the 60kg weight class bout. The Filipino had the strategic success in the first round and his combinations worked better than the Czech one’s. Demaisip’s best period was the second when the referee counted the Czech once which moment determined also the final success of the 17-year-old Filipino youngster.

India’s Adriatic Pearl Youth winner Parthavi Grewal was not enough focused in the first round against Italy’s Annamaria Del Giorno, same as Nisha but she switched into a real fight mode in time. She turned up the heat in the second round and she controlled well enough the third to win this female 65kg weight class contest in Pueblo.
