The winners of the fifth competition day advanced to the quarter-finals at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro today.

Afghanistan, China, DPR Korea, Hong Kong, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Palestine, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the participating 13 Asian nations in the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships.

Altogether 73 nations and 593 boxers are participating in the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva which makes the event the biggest competition of the globe this year.

Kazakhstan’s Anel Abdrasilova represented her nation in several ASBC championships therefore she had the experience how to handle IBA neutral’s Spencer Tiffany Murphy in the first round. Both boxers were counted by the referee in the third round and the Kazakh minimumweight (48kg) talent was favoured by 3:2 in this close bout.

China’s Zeng Weimei was taller than Romania’s Silvia Mihaela Meltzer but she moved forward from the first seconds and her strategy was dominant in this women’s minimumweight (48kg) bout. Zeng was better in closer and longer distances in the exchanges as well therefore the Chinese marched to the quarter-finals in Budva winning the bout by RSC in the third round.

Uzbekistan’s Jasmin Tokhirova is a two-time Asian Champion talent in the youth national team who began boxing six years ago. The Dzhizak-based Uzbek had a strong rival in the last 16, Russia’s Daria Zrianina but she had a fantastic finish in the third round to beat her opponent. The referee counted the Russian after a hard right-handed jab and Tokhirova proved that she is a gold medal favourite in Budva.

DPR Korea’s Kim Kwon Il played in a different league as Ghana’s George Nii Nortey Dowuona and he controlled all of the three rounds in this men’s minimumweight (48kg) preliminary. Uzbekistan’s Sayfiddin Sabirov, China’s Hu Junhao and Kazakhstan’s Dias Berikbay are all marched to the quarter-finals in this weight class.

Uzbekistan’s powerful Djafarbek Shakhbazov won his first Asian title still in 2022 and he had a quick success against Lithuania’s Dovydas Vasiliauskas at the middleweight (75kg). The Uzbek will now meet for the guaranteed medal Georgia’s Giorgi Natroshvili, another bug punches of this weight class.

Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar-Ali Begaliyev is the defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion at the middleweight (75kg) and he demonstrated his power against his Bulgarian opponent, Khalil Sami Hisham Hashem. The referee counted his European opponent once in the second round and Begaliyev was able to save power for the busy later actions.

Uzbekistan’s Zilolakhon Yusufova and China’s Xi Qiaoxian arranged an early final at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) in Budva. The Chinese won the first round by 3:2 on the judges’ scorecards while Yusufova has done the same tight difference in the second period. The final verdict was depended on their performance in the third round and Yusufova had the more punctual punches in that finish to win this tight challenge.

Tajikistan’s Anushervon Fazylov and Uzbekistan’s Sobirjon Tastanov know each other very well from previous ASBC Championships. The Tajik started the first seconds with a heavy blow but the Uzbek replied immediately and his jabs resulted a clear advantage on the scorecards for Tastanov who is now a quarter-finalist.

Kyrgyzstan’s youth No.1, the Junior World Champion and Asian Junior Champion Amantur Dzhumayev had a quick stoppage against Colombia’s Isaac David Rincon at the bantamweight (54kg). China’s virtuoso Zhang Hanrui also advanced to the quarter-finals in this category with amazing performance against IBA neutral’s Sean McCusker.

China’s Tang Xuan was not only confident against Turkey’s Nisa Nur Yildirim but her strength resulted a quick stoppage for her. The next Asian boxing power in the evening session was Tajikistan’s Meroj Sufijonov, the CIS Youth Games winner, he knocked out Lithuania’s Klaidas Skulcas at the men’s flyweight (51kg).

Iran’s Mehdi Kazemi ruled the middle of the ring against Brazil’s Fabricio Francisco Chaves and he landed at least three-times more punches than his South American opponent. The Iranian flyweight (51kg) boxer will be boxing for the medal with Afghanistan’s tall Emal Hamdam who defeated Ghana’s Mathias Ashitey.
