Lee Da Won, Seon Su Jin and Jo Se Hyeong won the best finals at the South Korean National President’s Cup
The South Korean National President’s Cup was held in the Gimcheon Indoor Gymnasium where Lee Da Won, Seon Su Jin and Jo Se Hyeong won the best final bouts.
The middle school girls, the middle school boys, the high school girls, the high school boys and the college men boxers were also able compete in the President’s Cup next to the elite women and elite men athletes.
The 27-year-old Lee Da Won from Wonju won the first female final of the President’s Cup in Gimcheon, she defeated the favourite, the ASBC medallist Bak Cho Rong at the light flyweight (50kg).
The 21-year-old Moon Ga Yeon from the Korea National Sports University bagged the second title of the competition before the national team member Jeong Ju Hyeong defeated a teenager, Kim Ji Yeon at the women’s featherweight (57kg) final.
Chungju’s Jin Hye Jeong, another national team member, succeeded at the women’s lightweight (60kg) in the absence of their star, Oh Yeon Jin. Jin defeated Kim Ga Yeon in the final of the busy weight class and she proved her potential for the future.
Seon Su Jin is one of the most experienced South Korean female national team member with several top achievements during her career. The 26-year-old boxer was never stopped attacking against Kang Su Kyung in their final while another experienced pugilist, Choi Hong Eun succeeded at the women’s middleweight (75kg).
Armed Forces’ Jo Se Hyeong joined the elite national team in 2017 and he impressed in his new category at the bantamweight (54kg) in the President’s Cup. Jo triumphed over one of the top Korean boxers, the 2017 World Championships bronze medallist Kim In Kyu in the best final of the competition.
The featherweight (57kg) is another important category in South Korea and their new winner was the 23-year-old Seo Dung Geon from Hwasun. Kim Hyung Seung (60kg) and Hyun Dong Ju (63.5kg) have international experiences and those paid off in their finals against Choi Joo Hyun and Kim Du Rae.
Daejeon’s Lim Hyun Seok had a tough middleweight (75kg) final against Son Seok Jun but he succeeded in this important national event. Kim Dong Hoe was the oldest winner in the competition, the 36-year-old veteran defeated Kim Jin Woo for the heavyweight (92kg) gold before Armed Forces’ Joo Tae Woong won the super heavyweight (+92kg).
