Al-Mutairi, Majrashi and Darkazanly were the bests at the Saudi Arabian National Games
The boxing event of the Saudi Arabian National Games finished in Riyadh where Noura Al-Mutairi, Muhammad Majrashi and Abdullah Darkazanly were the heroes of the title bouts.
The Saudi Arabian National Games is a multisport event with the participation of 9,000 female and male athletes in 53 sports. More than 200 sport clubs are attending in the National Games from all regions of the developing country.
The National Games was not only a selection for the boxers but the elite winners earned 1,000,000 Saudi Arabian riyals while the youth gold medallists also achieved 100,000 riyals for their titles.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Harbi, the President of the Saudi Arabian Boxing Federation, their ASBC Board of Director, Mrs. Rasha Al-Khamis, and Mr. Kevin Smith, the Technical Director of the Federation arranged a wonderful event in Riyadh for their best boxers.
Hadeel Ashour eliminated her teammate in the women’s national team, Raghad Al-Naimi but she was not able to keep the same rhythm in the final against an Asian Games competitor. Noura Al-Mutairi is Kuwait’s best female boxer who controlled not only the first round of their final but she had the stamina to take the title at the women’s lightweight (60kg).
Nawaf Al-Johani and Muhammad Majrashi both claimed medals at the Gulf Countries Youth Games earlier this year and they met for the title of the youth flyweight (51kg) in Riyadh. Majrashi worked better in their meeting and he won all of the three rounds in this final fight, earning the money prizes as well.
The Gulf Countries Youth Games silver medallist Adel Al-Mutairi had a hard job against Abed Al-Zharni in the last four at the men’s youth featherweight (57kg) and he looked more tired in the final than Yazan Al-Ghamdi, the winner of their contest.
Rayan Awaji outpointed Bader Abdulrahman Al-Salmi in the semi-finals of the youth light welterweight (63.5kg) and he was also too smart for Sabah Al-Shammari for the title. Ahmed Hunbos won the last, fourth youth title in the National Games, he defeated Mahmoud El-Kastawy in the final of the middleweight (75kg).
Mousa Al-Hawsawi eliminated Thamer Almatrfi in the semi-finals of the men’s elite lightweight (60kg) and he continued his winning path against Abdelkarim Zridy, earning the well-deserved title of the National Games.
Abdullah Darkazanly competed in German events in the previous two years and he impressed in the elite light middleweight (71kg) final against Hassan Kaabi. Soufian Marzaq was the quickest winner in the National Games, following his heavy punches and the counts, the referee stopped his final against Mohammed Alsubhi.
