Veterans and SEA Games stars advanced to the finals at the Indonesian National Games

Several of the boxers knocked out or stopped their rivals at the Indonesian National Games in Pematang Siantar City and advanced to the finals of the competition.  

Finally 31 teams entered to the National Games from all of the most important regions of the country, Java, Sumatra, Maluku, Papua, Bali, Sulawesi, Kalimantan and the capital team from Jakarta as well.

The team from the Aceh region and the Sumatra island squad both contains 20-20 boxers in the National Games. More than 200 boxers, 91 female and 116 male elite pugilists are attending in the new edition of the Indonesian National Games.

The Asian Games competitor and SEA Games silver medallist Dio Koebanu knocked out his previous rival in the Pematang Siantar City and he delivered the same strong performance in his next contest as well. The 20-year-old boxer landed the decisive punches already in the first round and due to these actions, Wahyudi Sihotang has injured.

Ingatan Ilahi dominated his last contest at the flyweight (51kg) and he repeated that technician performance in the Games, he prepared well against Tivannya Pattinama in their meeting. Ilahi, who competed in the Mohamed VI Trophy last year, controlled all of the three rounds and he marched to the next stage of boxing.

Aldoms Suguro, the former Southeast Asian Games winner, moved up to the bantamweight (54kg) and the experienced boxer had a hard battle against another international boxer, Ade Ilham Tapajati, but his routine decided this bout.

Yosua Holy Masihor represented Indonesia in the last edition of the Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships in Tashkent and he became the next winner at the bantamweight (54kg), following his good actions against Flanuari Yerikho Daud.

Indonesia’s boxer at the featherweight (57kg) in the recent Asian Games, DKI Jakarta’s Asri Udin was able to keep the focus until the last gong against Mardianus Frederikus Bulu to win their contest. Another strong National Champion in this weight class, Nolvy Engkeng also managed his pathway to the next stage of boxing after beating Iqbal Rasoki Simatupang.

Farrand Papendang is a 31-year-old veteran but he is a hard-working boxer, which he proved against Muhammed Ricky Pratama, stopping his opponent in the second round. His main national rival at the light welterweight (63.5kg), Jekri Riwu’s punches were also decisive in the second round, the Bali-based boxer knocked out Iman Josua Simorangkir.

Libertus Gha, another national team member, moved up to the welterweight (67kg), but he had the strength to beat Glen Papua Fredley Yamko by KO. Another veteran boxer, the 33-year-old Matius Mandiangan secured his place in the next stage, but Sarohatua Lumbantobing (71kg), the former Asian Games quarter-finalist Vinky Montolalu (75kg) and Bram Hendra Betaubun (80kg) are finalists as well.
