Nabila Maharani and Tivannya Pattinama eliminated reigning champions at the Indonesian National Games
Nabila Maharani and Tivannya Pattinama eliminated strong national team members and reigning champions at the Indonesian National Games in Pematang Siantar City during the seventh session of the competition.
Finally 31 teams entered to the National Games from all of the most important regions of the country, Java, Sumatra, Maluku, Papua, Bali, Sulawesi, Kalimantan and the capital team from Jakarta as well.
The team from the Aceh region and the Sumatra island squad both contains 20-20 boxers in the National Games. More than 200 boxers, 91 female and 116 male elite pugilists are attending in the new edition of the Indonesian National Games.
Sumatra’s Zalza Nabila Amoragam had a tough battle against Reyne Paulin Aprilya but she managed to win their women’s light flyweight (50kg) bout due to her great finish. Rani Krismayati Balu won a contest over Lomiana Nyanyi in this weight class but more easier way than Amoragam.
Nabila Maharani caused one of the top sensations in the National Games with her impressive combinations against Ratu Silpalau, one of the female national team members. Maharani had not only a fantastic attempt to take the control of this women’s featherweight (57kg) contest but she eliminated her more experienced rival in Pematang Siantar City.
The quarter-finals at the men’s flyweight (51kg) has delivered outstanding bouts between the participating boxers and a younger hope, Tivannya Pattinama caused the main upset of the session with his success over a veteran national team member and the defending National Champion in this weight class, Mario Blasius Kali.
Ingatan Ilahi, another experienced boxer at the flyweight (51kg), was more successful than Mario Kali and he eliminated Angga V. Mewengkang unanimously. The National Championships bronze medallist Welem Rafael Batuwael also joined the last four after beating Stewel Soekarno Hatta Baran Sano.
DKI Jakarta’s Asri Udin represented Indonesia in the previous main championships such as the Asian Games and the featherweight (57kg) boxer made a remarkable performance against Ahmad Irfan, stopping his opponent with heavy punches in the third round.
Nolvy Engkeng, the reigning National Champion at the featherweight (57kg), also dominated his next bout as Asri Udin despite his opponent was a former Asian Championships quarter-finalist, Simon Makarawe. Iman Josua Simorangkir and Jekri Riwu closed the session with their impressive successes at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
