India’s Sihag Ravi and Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yu Hao opened the fifth competition day in Al Ain where the schoolboys were in action during the afternoon session. The Indian southpaw had strong left-handed jabs and hooks in the first round which was close between the two 14-year-old talents. The Indian stepped into the gas in the beginning of the second round and he became the first medallist at the schoolboys 49kg weight class and he will now meet Iran’s Matin Chamipa in the last four.

Kazakhstan’s Adiyat Marzhikpayev is proud of his boxing family which has more generations in his homeland. The 14-year-old Kazakh was not enough shape against Agarzandan Batkhuyag in the first round and the Mongolian surprised him with effective combinations. Marzhikpayev did not find the best fighting distance in their quarter-final bout and Batkhuyag delivered first surprise of the fifth competition day.

Uzbekistan’s Asliddin Usubaliyev started better than Ukraine’s Bohdan Smoliak in the first round of their 49kg weight class battle which was one of the top ones in the afternoon session. Smoliak responded with tough shots to the Uzbek attacks in the second round therefore the final verdict was depended only on their performance in the last period. The Uzbek tried to overcame his Ukrainian opponent in the third but Smoliak won their meeting by 3:2 split decision.

Kyrgyzstan’s Rizvan Isayev and Mongolia’s Temuujin Batzorig met in the first quarter-final at the 52kg weight class in Al Ain where the first worked effectively to leave the ring with a clear unanimous triumph. Tajikistan’s Ali Nazarov moved forward without any stoppage in his quarter-final but he stepped into his opponent’s best fighting range therefore Ukraine’s Nazariy Flinta will meet the Kyrgyz boy in the semi-finals.

Uzbekistan’s next boxer in action was Mukhammaddiyor Sidikov who arrived from Andizhan to this championship following his national successes. He moved forward but he received punches from Iran’s Mahan Mohammadi Anjengesh who worked from counter-attacking range in this 52kg quarter-final bout. The Iranian landed more shots in this bout than his Uzbek opponent and he eliminated one of the favourites today.

Ukraine’s Matvii Shvaiko eliminated his Tajik opponent in the first preliminary round but he expected a stronger resistance in his next bout in Al Ain where he met Kazakhstan’s Abdimansur Zhaksylyk. The Central Asian was smaller than the Ukrainian but he looked quicker in all of the exchanges which was the decisive marker between them today therefore Zhaksylyk managed his pathway to the semi-finals at the 55kg.

Uzbekistan’s Akhmadkhon Abdusattorov had a relatively slow start against Saudi Arabia’s Jawad Al-Zurayqi but he decided their 55kg quarter-final with strong combinations in the second round. India’s Lakshay Balhara is a newcomer in the national team but his height advantage decided his quarter-final against Chinese Taipei’s technician Chang En Jui while Kyrgyzstan’s Temirlan Abytaliyev became the last medallist in this weight class.

Kyrgyzstan’s Abdyrazzak Abdymanapov tried to keep his Uzbek opponent, Abduvokhid Abdumajidov on long but he was not enough successful in the first round. The Kyrgyz talent had excellent footwork but Abdumajidov used his speed to catch him from closer distance in this 58kg quarter-final bout. The Uzbek’s best round was the third therefore he advanced as first to the semi-finals in this strong weight class.
