Nepal will compete with four boys at the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships

Nepal will participate with male boxers in the upcoming ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships which will open with its first competition day in Al Ain on August 29.
The upcoming ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships will be held in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates between August 27 and September 10 which is the first top event after the Paris Olympics. Two age groups, two genders and Asia’s best 13, 14, 15 and 16-year-old talents will be competing for the 56 available gold medals in Al Ain.
The management of the Nepal Boxing Federation arranged its National Selection Tournament in the city of Lalitpur in the end of July to select the best schoolboys and juniors for the upcoming Asian Championships.
Four of their talents have been selected finally to the travelling team and they prepare in a specific venue to the event, at Dasarath Rangasala Stadium in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu.
Chandan Shahi had a very difficult job in the National Selection Tournament but he succeeded against Rohit Janala at the junior pinweight (46kg) final. The verdict was 3:2 split decision in the favour of Chandan Shahi who has selected to participate in Al Ain where he will be able to use his excellent speed against the opponents.
Sherap Ghelchan Sherpa had a massive performance in the National Selection Tournament, he was too strong for Sijan Ghale at the junior lightweight (60kg) and the referee stopped their unequal final bout.
Nepal has strong traditions in the smaller categories but some of their talents impressed in the heavier divisions as well. Their 16-year-old Suryan Baidhya stopped his final opponent in the selection event, Yugen Tamang, and he won the junior light heavyweight (80kg) in Lalitpur.
Romash Shrestha defeated his toughest teammates as Sumit Rijal and Angel Lama Gurung during the National Selection Tournament and he will represent Nepal at the schoolboys 61kg weight class in the United Arab Emirates.
