Hettiarachchi is the Best Boxer at the 53rd T.B. Jayah Meeting in Sri Lanka

Since the election was held in Sri Lanka, the country is more active in the boxing map, and they hosted their next national competition. The 53rd edition of the T.B. Jayah Novices Boxing Meeting was held in the Sri Piyaratne Primary School in Padukka which is located in the Colombo region.

The Vidyarathane University College from Horana became the undisputed champions in the new edition of the T.B. Jayah Novices Boxing Meeting.

The boxers from the Vidyarathane University College earned three gold and two silver medals regaining their trophies for the very first time since 2014.

The famous St. Sylvester’s College from Kandy won the second place in the team rankings with two gold and two silver medals.

The Peradeniya Central College won also two gold medals as the St. Sylvester’s College and they earned the number three ranking in the team standings.

The Vice-President of Sri Lanka Boxing Mr. Cdr. Udaya Kumaratunga was the Chief Guest of the finals in the event and he presented several of the medals and trophies.

Vidushan Sansika Hettiarachchi from the D.S. Senanayake College defeated Wattegama Central College’s D.K.G.D. Navarathne at the youth bantamweight (54kg) final and he became the Best Boxer of the T.B. Jayah Meeting.

The winners from the Vidyarathane University College were Asliya Akeerna (41kg), Theekshana Sadaru Priyadarshan (45kg) and Binul Dulnada (46kg) but K.D.H. Sathsara (35kg) and Vihanga Prabashwara (43kg) also proved strong performance with their silver medals at the T.B. Jayah Meeting.

Vihanga Prabashwara became the Best Loser of the competition following his tight split decision loss to R.N. Dilshan of the Koraboruwana MV in the 43kg weight class.

Z. Abdulrahman claimed a silver medal in the Jayaweera Meeting this year but he changed that result into a gold in the T.B. Jayah Meeting. A youth talent, T.L. Darmapriya also has done the same performance as Abdulrahman, he earned in the new event finally a gold medal following his previous silvers.
