ASBC President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira and the ASBC management send their sincere condolence to Mr. Sachin Kumar’s family

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira of Thailand, furthermore the whole Asian Boxing Family send their sincere condolence to India’s Sachin Kumar’s family following the 27-year-old light heavyweight (80kg) national team member died in a car accident in Rohtak, Haryana State.

Mr. Sachin Kumar Dahiya was born in Kharkhoda on March 9 in 1997 and he began boxing at the age of 13 with the influential of his father. He trained mostly with coach Mr. Rohtash Kumar in Sonipat 20 hours in a week to accomplish his goals in our sport.

He won his first regional competitions as a sub-junior athlete in 2011 and he had excellent results also as a junior in the national level of boxing. Sachin Kumar surprised the experts in 2019 when he won the Indian National Boxing Championships and claimed a bronze medal at the South Asian Games in Nepal.

Sachin Kumar won the Indian National Selection Trials in December 2019 and he received the right to represent the country in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman on March 2022. He advanced to the quarter-finals and lost only to Tajikistan’s Shabbos Negmatulloev in the specific Olympic Box-off.

He missed the Tokyo Olympics, but Sachin Kumar won the 2021 edition of the Indian National Boxing Championships, he competed at the World Boxing Championships in Belgrade and he achieved a silver medal at the 2022 Indian National Games.

The entire Asian Boxing Family will remember his kind personality and his hard work in our beloved sport as a member in the Indian national team.

May his soul will rest in eternal peace in India.
