Mongolia’s star Erdenebat Tsendbaatar returned to the events with a clear success in Bangkok

The Round of 64 actions were held in the fifth session at the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Bangkok where Mongolia’s star Erdenebat Tsendbaatar made a strong return to the international events.

Altogether 579 boxers from 133 countries are participating in the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Bangkok where the total number of the available quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics is 51. The number of the coaches, officials and team delegations members is 610 in Thailand.

Turkmenistan’s three boxers were near to qualify for the Paris Olympics in Busto Arsizio and their Shukur Ovezov opened their campaign well on Day2. The next boxer from Turkmenistan, Saparmyrat Odayev was a dominant against Hong Kong’s Lee Kong Ching and he secured his place in the Round of 32.

Mongolia’s two-time Olympic Games quarter-finalist Erdenebat Tsendbaatar returned from the professional world and he had a strong performance against Vietnam’s Vu Thanh Dat on Day3. The 28-year-old Asian Champion saved a lot of fuel for the next stage of boxing as he has the strong focus to qualify for his third Olympics.

Iran’s Ali Habibinezhad has just won the Elorda Cup in Astana before the start of the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event. The Iranian had a veteran opponent, the All Africa Games winner Jonas Junias Jonas from Namibia but Habibinezhad had the strength and stamina to win this tough fight in Bangkok.

Kazakhstan qualified six male boxers to the Olympics and only the light welterweight (63.5kg) is still the gap for them but Mukhammedsabyr Bazarbay Uulu proved a fantastic performance on Day3. The 22-year-old former Asian Youth Champion did not give any chance to Philippines’ professional boxer, Criztian Pitt Laurente.

Kyrgyzstan’s Asian Games quarter-finalist Askat Kultayev has brilliant technical skills and the 22-year-old boxer followed the judges’ instructions from the first seconds until the last against Serbia’s ex-Russian Aleksej Sendrik. Mr. Daniyar Tologon Uulu’s strategy worked well and Kultayev had the boxing knowledge to accomplish to his goal to join the Round of 32 in Bangkok.

DPR Korea’s Asian Games quarter-finalist Choe Chol Man was in different level as Dominica’s Joshua Toussaint and he had the easy success today. Another Asian boxer in this busy light welterweight (63.5kg), Japan’s Shion Nishiyama defeated also a Caribbean rival, Bahamas’ teenager Anai Powell by RSC.
