Nearly 300 boxers are competing at the Mongolian Youth National Championships in Darkhan-Uul
Boxers in twenty-three weight categories are attending in the Mongolian Youth National Championships in Darkhan-Uul this week which started in the boxing powerhouse.
The Mongolians will be competing at the upcoming ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan later this month and the event is the main selection competitions for their youth talents.
Record number of 96 female boxers are participating in the Mongolian Youth National Championships in the city of Darkhan-Uul which hosts the event for the first time.
The number of the male boxers is 173 in this youth national event therefore the total number of athletes is impressive 269.
The women’s minimumweight (48kg) has 23 participants in the Mongolian Youth National Championships and this is the most difficult category for the female talents.
Five of the men’s weight categories have more than 16 boxers and Round of 32 bouts have been held in the preliminary stage of the championships.
Bataa Nomin delivered a surprise in the second session of the Mongolian Youth National Championships, she eliminated a more experienced rival, Undrakh Binderiya at the women’s light flyweight (50kg).
Enkhtuya Altansuvd had a clear advantage on the judges’ scorecards after three minutes against Tumurkhuyag Anujin and she increased the tempo after the break. The young bantamweight (54kg) talent landed powerful shots and the referee confirmed her RSC success in the second round.
Maral Ganzorig competed at the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and she had the routine to win her opener against Uugankhuu Naransolongo at the women’s featherweight (57kg).
The men’s flyweight (51kg) is a very busy category in the Youth Nationals and several of the promising boxers such as Enkh-Amgalan Bat-Amgalan, Sandagsuren Burentulga, Tsevelmaa Sumiyabazar and Darkhantsetseg Dashnyam all advanced to the next stage of boxing.
The female and male finals of the Mongolian Youth National Championships will be held this Saturday on April 6.
