Eleven Kazakh gold medals at the Bolat Temirov Memorial Tournament

The Bolat Temirov Memorial International Tournament was held in Atyrau, Kazakhstan during the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Altogether 133 elite male boxers competed in the Bolat Temirov Tournament and the lightweight (60kg) is the most popular category with the participation of 20 athletes. The city of Atyrau is located off the coasts of the Caspian Sea and hosted several boxing events in the previous years.

The Bolat Temirov Memorial Tournament was held in all of the 13 official elite male weight categories. Mr. Ruslan Bibuyev, Kazakhstan’s 3-stars IBA Referee & Judge was the Technical Delegate of the Bolat Temirov International Tournament.

Mr. Bolat Temirov was born in the city of Atyrau in 1969 and the Master of Sport died in Almaty on December 20 in 2022. He won the Kazakhstan National Championships in 1989 and he repeated that performance several times until the mid-1990s. He represented the Soviet Union at the 1991 European Boxing Championships and the independent Kazakhstan in the 1993 and 1995 editions of the AIBA World Boxing Championships.

Kyrgyzstan’s Asylbek Amankul Uulu was the first winner in the Bolat Temirov Memorial Tournament, he defeated all of the Kazakhs including Askhat Zhussupov and the younger Yernar Karap at the minimumweight (48kg).

Aktau region’s Bekzat Aldamzharov and the Almaty region’s Kenzhe Muratuly both were born in 2003 but they had the routine to win the busy flyweight (51kg) and bantamweight (54kg) in Atyrau.

Kazakhstan’s Yerbolat Sabyr achieved a silver medal at the 2021 Youth World Boxing Championships and the tall boxer had a crucial final against Tajikistan’s Khusravkhon Rakhimov. Sabyr was able to keep his 21-year-old rival on long and he won this outstanding contest by 3:2 split decision.

A strong puncher, Chingiz Mussinov of Kazakhstan won the lightweight (60kg) despite the participation of two future stars, Tajikistan’s Abubakr Murodzoda and the Asian Junior Champion Ruslan Kuzeubayev.

Kazakhstan’s Nurkanat Raiys was one of the most experienced boxers in the whole competition, the World Championships quarter-finalist defeated his teammate, Armat Armanuly by unanimous decision at the middleweight (75kg). A former Asian Youth Champion, Ayatulla Takizhanov enjoyed his new category, the light heavyweight (80kg) in Atyrau where he stopped Tajikistan’s Shakhboz Khaitov in the final. One of the most promising super heavyweight (+92kg) boxers, Amanat Sabyrgali won the last title of the event after beating Meirbek Mukhtarov.
