Tajikistan will host several competitions in 2024

Tajikistan will have several national competitions in 2024 and the country is ready to impress in all of the international events as last year.

Their annual Elite National Championships was held earlier than the start of the year on December 2023 due to the next qualification event. Altogether 175 boxers attended in the Tajikistan Elite National Championships which was their next selection competition for the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Two of the Tajiks, such as the women’s featherweight (57kg) boxer, Mizhgona Samadova and the men’s heavyweight (92kg) gold medallist Davlat Boltayev have already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through the Asian Games.

Shoira Zulkaynarova (66kg), the former Junior World Champion Asror Vokhidov (57kg), the ASBC Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmonov (63.5kg) and Shabbos Negmatulloev (80kg) all have strong chances to increase the number of the Tajik quotas for Paris during the upcoming two World Qualifiers.

Tajikistan will host a Youth National event for the 2006-2007 age group on March 11-15 to celebrate the start of the Spring, the Nowruz. The Tajik youth boxers amazed in the last three editions of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships.

The city of Kulob will be the host of the Junior National Championships on May 1-5 for the 2008 and 2009 born boxers. Other national events for the youngest age groups will be taking place in the capital of the Gorno-Badakhshan region in Khorog on July.

The city of Tursunzoda will organize the Schoolboys & Schoolgirls National Championships for the 2010 and 2011 born athletes on August 1-4 which could be selections for the ASBC Asian Championships in the age group.

After the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Mavzuna Chorieva Prizes Tournament will be held in the city of Dushanbe for the elite female and male boxers. Mavzuna Chorieva earned Tajikistan’s lone Olympic medal in boxing, she claimed a bronze at the women’s lightweight (60kg) in the London 2012 Olympics.
