Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan earned titles at the 11th Serik Sapiyev Prizes Junior Tournament
The 11th edition of the Serik Sapiyev Prizes Junior Tournament took place in Karagandy, Kazakhstan where sixteen boxers earned their gold medals.
The event was a success in the heart of Kazakhstan and the busy organizers arranged the competition in the Karaganda Boxing Development Center. The main goal of the event was to find new talents and support to increase the international experience of the young talents. The organizers of Serik Sapiyev Prizes Tournament were the Karaganda Regional Boxing Federation and the Department of Sports of the Karaganda Region.
Mr. Serik Sapiyev was Kazakhstan’s boxing icon between 2005 and 2012 who earned gold medals in all of the major championships. He bagged a title at the London 2012 Olympic Games where he was awarded the Val Barker Trophy as well. He won the World Championships in 2005 and in 2007, the Asian Games in 2010 and the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships twice during his career.
The 2008 and 2009 born boxers were eligible to participate in the Serik Sapiyev Prizes Junior Tournament. The competitors fought for the titles at the 44kg, 46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, and the +80kg weight categories in Karaganda. The Best Boxer of the Tournament got a special prize established by the sponsors of the international competition.
Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Dalayev earned the first title in the Serik Sapiyev Prizes Junior Tournament in Karagandy, he defeated Uzbekistan’s Nodirbek Nyshanov in the final of the 44kg. Kazakhstan’s young hopefuls such as Salamat Yegizbay and Yerasyl Meyramkhan continued the host nation’s winning path in the event.
Tajikistan sent a strong junior team to the competitions and finally their Sharifkhon Nuraliyev (46kg) and Sorbon Nuralizoda (66kg) earned gold medals in the Serik Sapiyev Prizes Tournament. The 15-year-old Nuraliyev defeated Kazakhstan’s Junior National Champion Madiyar Askertayev which was one of the best contests of the final day.
Azerbaijan sent also their best junior boxers to the competition, and two of them succeeded in the city of Karagandy: Temirlan Alimzanov (57kg) and Ismayil Valiyev (75kg). Both of the Azeris defeated local Kazakh boxers and they used this event as preparation for the main goals in 2024.
Zhanarbek Khuanyshuly from the Pavlodar region stopped Sultan Abdulmazhitov in the final of the light welterweight (63kg) which was a top performance from the 15-year-old talent. The heavyweight (+80kg) was controlled by Vladislav Samozhonov who won all of his previous competitions as well.

75kg: Ismayil Valiyev, Azerbaijan
80kg: Nurasyl Kystaubay, Kazakhstan
+80kg: Vladislav Samozhonov, Kazakhstan
