The Kazakhstan National Spartakyad is underway in Astana
The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships has just held in Astana, Kazakhstan but there is not any stoppage in their boxing life and a new competition started in the city. The Kazakhstan National Spartakyad is another huge competition and all of Kazakhstan’s best boxers are aiming for the gold medals in Astana.
The event is one of the selection competitions for the upcoming 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which will be starting in Busto Arsizio, Italy on February 29. The winners of the Kazakhstan National Spartakyad could be there in the next Qualifier as only one Kazakh male boxer, Kamshybek Kunkabayev earned a spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics from the Asian Games.
The Vice-President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Aziz Kozhambetov is in the venue at the Kazakhstan National Spartakyad and he follows the exciting contests. The Kazakhstan National Spartakyad holds in all of the 13 male weight categories but the seven Olympic divisions are the most important in this event in Astana.
The flyweight (51kg) is a super strong category in the National Spartakyad with stars on the board but they will join mostly in the next stage of boxing. Pavlodar region’s Gabbas Duisekenov delivered a small surprise in the session when he defeated Ramazan Nurlybayev, a top talent in this weight class.
The featherweight (57kg) is also amazing in the Spartakyad and one of the rising stars, the Youth World Championships silver medallist Yerbolat Sabyr opened his campaign with a RSC success over Dias Tulegenov of Atyrau region. Another promising boxer in this weight class, Assylzhan Serikbay also stopped his first rival, Aslan Aslanov of Karagandy region. A former Youth Olympics silver medallist, Talgat Shayken returned to the competitions after a short break and he looks unstoppable in 2023. The 23-year-old boxer dominated his first light middleweight (71kg) fight in Astana and he eliminated Azat Imanberli in a one-sided contest. Another key boxer in this weight class, Almaty region’s Darkhan Duisebay also succeeded in the session, he bowed out Ramazan Meirambekov.
