Tamta and Kamolov secured the final places at the pinweight

Kazakhstan’s Nygman Nygmet and India’s Brijesh Tamta both won two contests during their road to the junior semi-finals of the pinweight (46kg). The Kazakh was not able to keep the speed of the Indian boxer in the first round and he had disadvantage after two minutes of fight in all of the judges’ scorecards. Tamta worked more in the beginning of the second round and he jumped into the best distance and he caught Nygmet with heavy jabs also in the third. India has bright traditions in the smallest junior weight class and Tamta is their next finalist who will be meeting for the title Tajikistan’s Jakhongir Kamolov who had a brilliant performance against Uzbekistan’s Bekhruz Kurbonov.

Aldiyar Bakhadur is Kazakhstan’s first junior male finalist

Kazakhstan’s second junior semi-finalist was Aldiyar Bakhadur in the afternoon session of the ninth competition day and he met also an Indian opponent as Nygman Nygmet. Sikander landed a strong jab in their busy opener and he looked more focused than the 16-year-old Kazakh in the first minute. Bakhadur found his best rhythm in time to take the leading after the first round and he had the great finish to win the first light flyweight (48kg) semi-final. The Kazakh will be boxing for the title with Turkmenistan’s Sanjar Hamrayev who had an unexpected success over Tajikistan’s Mansurkhuja Muminov.

Katare and Hojayev are the finalists at the flyweight

India’s Divash Katare eliminated strong rivals in the previous parts of the championships and he tried to work from closer range against Mongolia’s Tsogtsaikhan Taivanbaatar in the first round. The Indian had the aggressive attacks and the strong hooks and he became the second from his nation in the junior finals. Biloldzhon Iksanov used counter-attacking tactics against Abdalla Hojayev in the second Tajikistan vs. Turkmenistan semi-final on Day9. The Tajik Iksanov was never stopped moving in this contest but the final verdict was split decision in the favour of Hojayev.

Tulebek eliminated one of the top Uzbeks

Uzbekistan’s Ibrokhim Giyosov proved excellent performance in the preparation tournaments in 2023 and he joined the semi-finals at the light bantamweight (52kg) but he had another experienced opponent today, Kazakhstan’s Nurassyl Tulebek. The host country’s pride was patient, he was waiting for the best angles and he landed his shots with perfect timing today. Both Central Asian hopefuls are tall in this weight class, they had very similar styles of boxing and in that game Tulebek was slightly better. Kyrgyzstan’s Amantur Dzhumayev will be Tulebek’s final opponent who eliminated Japan’s Tomu Kataoka surprisingly.

Ergashev was dominant at the bantamweight

Uzbekistan’s Shakhbozbek Ergashev landed more shots than Kazakhstan’s Bauyrzhan Muratov in the first round and he had the advantage on the judges’ scorecards. The 16-year-old Uzbek had clear punches in the second round as well and he proved that he is better than Muratov today. The Kazakh bantamweight (54kg) boxer was not able to organize his defense in this bout and he received so many jabs and uppercuts from the Uzbek side therefore Ergashev marched to the finals. Thailand’s Apichit Chaemdi made a strong effort in the third round against Turkmenistan’s Seyitjan Babajanov which was decisive in their close fight.

Sadirov is Kyrgyzstan’s second junior finalist in Astana

Thailand’s Nattajakapan Ditpoo and Kyrgyzstan’s Dilerbek Sadirov fought in the first semi-final at the featherweight (57kg) today. The Kyrgyz moved forward and tried to catch the quick Thai boxer in the first round and he succeeded a few times therefore Sadirov had the advantage on the scorecards. Sadirov joined the finals as the second boxer from Kyrgyzstan and he will now face India’s Yogesh Dhanda for the title. The Indian had the speedy attacks against Uzbekistan’s Sukhrob Rakhmatullayev in the second semi-final of the weight class.
