Sixteen boxers will represent Vietnam at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships
Following Chinese Taipei, Vietnam also will have record number of 16 boxers in the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. The first competition day is October 23 in Astana, Kazakhstan and Team Vietnam is in the final stage of preparations for this unique ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.
Vietnam sent boxers to the 2022 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships to Amman and the country earned a female bronze medal at the Youth World Boxing Championships in La Nucia one year ago. That girl had the clear transition way to the elite national team and she competed in the recent Asian Games.
Mr. Pham Thanh Hai, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quan and Mr. Tran Tuan Hai will be their three coaches in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. Mr. Pham Thanh Hai led the squad in the last edition of the event in Amman and several other competitions in the previous years.
Vietnam had its Youth & Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls National Championships this summer and the event was the main selection for the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. The national event saw the actions of more than 400 boxers and the quality of their boxers are promising.
Five junior girls will compete in Astana following their sixth national team member, Vu Thi Tom (54kg) is unable to compete in the championships. Luc Thao Thanh (50kg), Huynh Thao Linh (52kg), Nguyen Le Bao Thy (63kg), Nguyen Hong Hai Bang (66kg) and Tran Thanh Tuyen (75kg) are all ready to make their international debut in Kazakhstan.
Their five youth women boxers will compete from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the lightweight (60kg) in the championships and all of them have the potential to win medals. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung (48kg), Song Thi Kim Ngan (50kg), Quang Thi Nhung (54kg), Tran Thi Truc Han (57kg) and Luong Anh Tuyet (60kg) are all talented boxers.
Vietnam’s male boxers developed rapidly in the previous period and their plan is to win at least one historic medal in Astana. Tran Nhat Thanh (75kg) will be their lone junior male boxer in the championships but five of their talents will compete in the youth age group.
